Do having friends affect your gym time?
No, because I don't have friends.

I've had multiple friends ask to start going to the gym with me. Every time they come for a couple weeks then start sporadically missing workouts then drop it entirely within the month. And when they do show up it practically doubles my workout time. Still, I'd love to have a gym buddy :'(
Sometimes they ask me to go out and it interferes with my gym time
gym buddies are an enormous waste of time
it's already boring, there's nothing to discuss, and you're just usually prolonging your stay because they're not as into it as you are.
just save hanging out for after the gym
Adds way too much unnecessary time at the gym.
It impacts my workout cause i get drunk sometimes the night before.
Sometimes I skip out on minor social events because its my gym time.
I see people that go in groups and I can only imagine that it prolongs their stay...especially if they're all working on the same body part, and using the same equipment....

Ive been training for 3 years. due to my work prohibiting me to train seriously ive liked training with other people.
Got the chance to train on my own during the summer and seen massive increase in motivation during lift.
I wouldnt say either is better. but it depends on your goals and expectations.
