How did you improve yourself today, anon?
>>
>today
nothing, really

>lately
started working after three years of neetdom, finally eating enough to gain a bit of weight. I'm trying to focus less on the things that made me depressed in the (not so distant) past. Mainly the loneliness and purposelessness. I'm also trying to kill my habit of developing oneitis for every girl I meet that shows any kind of interest (a girl at work is a prime candidate and I'm doing my best to not think about her)

Basically I'm trying to be less pathetic

Kinda like nutritionfacts.org but for personal development info instead of nutrition. Leo Gura spends his time digging through hundreds of self help books, seminars, lectures and self-help products, distilling them into bite-size chunks SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO. His work is high value, high quality, and +95% of it is totally free. Seriously, the caliber of material he puts out is the kind of stuff i'm used to, and once you are too, you'll read the SIG Sticky/wiki and think "Oh, that's cute."

I quit video games a month ago, but I went to a gaming convention for the sole purpose of meeting cool people. I managed to get a second fwb who does cosplay and loves zelda.

I'm 4 weeks clean of porn.
I've done 14 hours of muay thai so far, so I'm slowly working towards it.
I've been cutting down slowly, my gut is going down, but I don't have good abs.

I need to start meditating, work on making passive income, and stop wasting my fucking time watching stupid shit on youtube.

I'm still depressed about my ex. : )

I got hired at Amazon last week and made use of the free gym for the first time today. Two floors worth of equipment and empty at noon. Granted, it's the weekend, but I expected there to be people making use of the free personal trainers who were there offering to set me up on plans and check my form. Nice having a free selection of protein bars and whey for that immediate pre/post. I'm probably going to be putting in 60 work weeks but this almost makes it worth it. Going to go in a few hours to see what it's like at 5am on a Monday.
>>
>>42089155

Yeah currently living in Cap Hill but moving to Belltown next month. If you're ever downtown I can swipe guests into the corporate gym here if you want to check it out.

Finally going back to school after failing out due to a depressive spiral following my ex-girlfriend leaving me and a friend dying suddenly.
I've gotten to the point where I've accepted what had happened and what could have been better without dwelling on it too much.
I'm really excited for the first time in a long time, sitting around at home getting drunk in the middle of the day isn't really as fun as I thought it would be and it's causing me to stall badly on my lifts.
I'm glad that I've been able to make the changes I needed to in my life to get back to normalcy. It feels really good brehs.

I had a really good workout today despite feeling like shit. Been going to the gym 3x a week (Phrak GSLP) for ~2 months now, can't believe I'm actually sticking to it. It doesn't matter what I "feel" like, I just go. It's a liberating feeling.

Anyway, I need to now make a habit of cleaning my room and reading.

It says 1 gram per pound, and not 1.5, but you could just get some protein powder if you have trouble getting enough protein from food.
>>
>>42091162
The sticky says 1.5 for cutting.
>>
>>42091172
How long have you been lifting? If you didn't lift before, I wouldn't really worry about muscle loss and therefore about protein intake, it's really only a problem for people with significant muscle mass.
>>
>>42091209
So I can just stick with the 1 gram per pound if I'm only now starting to lift? That's a little easier to reach, thanks.
>>
I've been losing weight steadily in the last couple months, and now I'm about 4-6 kilos from my goal weight. The problem is that I have an injury that prevented me from lifting in the last couple years, so I will inevitably end up looking kinda skinny (not as skinny as some of my friends who are otherwise athletic tho). I've recently found out how to treat my injury, and the pain has noticeably decreased after one and a half week, but this caused me to lose some of my motivation to lose weight. I mean I give less of a shit about weight loss now that I know I will most likely be able to go back to lifting and can acquire an actually good body instead of a skinny one, even though I should definitely still lose those 4-6 kilos. I also got really fucking tired of cycling, I always go on the same trail, and it's just so fucking boring. I didn't want to start running until after I've lost all the weight, but I guess I'll start running today.

>>
>finally got the "if you're hungry drink water" mentality to click
If the water doesn't fix it, I drink more, and if that doesn't work I eat fruit/veg/nuts/seeds, and if I don't want those I just ignore it or chew a piece of sugar free bubblegum (not more than 4 total per day)

>Still needs motivation, instead of using the power of habit and planning to grind for what you want.

You don't need motivation. You need to keep youself busy, do anything, literarly. Clean your house, walk, drink some water, go pee, say hi to a friend you haven't talked in a while. JUST DONT FUCKING STAY DOING NOTHING. Habitualise yourself, stop looking at motivational bullshit. Stop and think for like 15 minutes. What do you want to do? Find some steps you need to take and start doing whatever it is. Nobody needs motivational bullshit. All you have mentally is willpower and planning. Do you want something? Get it. Try. It doesn't matter.

Everyone is different fuck motivation, find the balance between what you want to do, what you need to do in order to achieve it and finally find the mental ground where you can stand on and feel sanity and comfort. (And of course comfort is not sitting calm doing nothing, but knowing that when you self-reflect at nights and feel like shit that you didn't do enough and being able to prevent it. That is true comfort)
>>
>>42092071
Infantry leads the way friend.
The only downside is that it doesn't set you up for a career once you get out.

I spent 4 years in and did 1 year in Afghanistan, was the best time of my life. Make sure you can walk miles with weight, ( Ruck March ) and the rest will be fine.

>>42092117
Forgot to add, there are gyms on base. You'll still be able to lift everyday after final formation. Since the gyms are on post it's always close.
>>
>>42092117
How old were you when you did your time? Interviewer told me I was getting too old (mid 20s), before that I wouldn't have considered anything but infantry, everyone seems to have loved it.
>>
>>42092095
The thing about habits is that they take a lot of time to develop, so using "motivation" in the stage where you're just starting to develop a habit is totally acceptable, you just have to avoid becoming dependent on it.

Try not to get too focused on getting a 4.0, never met a prof that thought it was a good idea.
Remember a girl freaking out about getting a B+ in Organic Chemistry.
The prof responded with "if this failure to you then you are going to kill yourself if you actually try for something in life".
True desu, just get a high GPA and network.
Senior year and have had 4 B's, one was because the professor "didn't believe in grades" and the other three were bullshit. One of them was actually the prof punishing me for not doing busy work during finals week, without it I had a solid A+.

Just don't fret over things bby.
My big piece of advice to ANYONE is when presented with something difficult don't let your ego shield you.
When a problem poses difficult don't say "math is hard", say "fuck I guess I'm going to have trouble with this".
Accept you aren't perfect and keep trying, I used to be bad at math and this past summer I was BTFOing every math major in my uni and I'm not even in math.
Only difference was my ego wasn't attached to my "academic success" so I wasn't afraid of actually trying to do hard problems that I most likely wouldn't be able to find out.

Cannot recommend this enough. If you want a deeper dive get deep work as well. Both are cheap but you can easily find a free pdf as well.

Changingminds has some stuff on sales, although I honestly have no idea. You'd probably be better off googling best books on sales
