Every time I do lying tricep extensions, my elbow joints lock and crack. I can't go above 7-8 pound dumbbells or it becomes too painful. Does anyone else have this problem? How can I fix it? What am I doing wrong?

Do deadhangs. Just grab onto a bar and hang there for as long as you can. Good for most arm/shoulder injuries and not a bad pre workout warmup.

Decline close grip bench press with low weight/high reps? I don't really know what you have, kiddo. Maybe put your feet on a chair and do diamond pushups. They are pretty good for starting tris but you'll have to move onto weights pretty soon. Dips are good as well.

ohp/bench, push ups. gradually accustom your muscle and joint with low intensity high rep, it sounds like you're not used to pushing weights.

as a side note, do not do tricep extensions like in OP image, it's dangerous AND inefficient.
your arms should not go vertically above your head, as it works the tricep LESS and can fall on your face.

no you nonce. as your arms reach vertical, less muscular work is being done.
when your arms are fully vertical, no work is being done.

it therefore makes sense to set your arms further from your face to increase muscular tension.
