For that reason i'd say straps are cheap (you only need to use them if you can't hold that much weight), while mixed grip and barefoot are perfectly fine. Why wouldn't you take advantage of a great method to stop roll-momentum that doesn't require breaking your thumbs?
Belts I'm kind of on the fence about, since they're obviously assistance but it's still you doing the work.

I warm up to and including 4pl8 double overhand unless I'm really focusing on fast reps

I do my SLDLs and RDLs double over as well to get some time under tension and occasionally (like every couple months) attempt a 1rm but my grip fatigues really quickly (I think it's just the nature of forearms) so it has to be my first exercise of the day

That said, I've always had good grip, probably because of my big hands and having worked on engines and general machinery as a teenager so I can't help you start from scratch if you follow me

I'm 6'1" 207 lbs. Did SS for about half a year, bulking from 176 lbs. Switched to the texas method a month ago, just one week before starting my first cut at 216 lbs. My best 5rm are 300 squat, 190 bench, 340 deadlift, 130 ohp. I've managed to maintain my strenght so far.

Have you gained strenght on a cut? Any tips (have read about carb timing but haven't done that)? Any programs or programming principles that have worked for you? Don't know what to ask besides that, very nice of you :^)

yeah my deadlift is always better during/after a cut.

yeah this is the important part. Switch to a low volume program like Sheiko low volume or just go in and do a couple sets of 3 or doubles and little-to no accessory work (seriously I'm not memeing).

It's important to keep in mind that your body will have a hard time recovering from an appreciable amount of volume on a caloric deficit so keep it simple, and keep it heavy to maintain that strength. It's entirely possible to set PRs or at least maintain your strength even as an intermediate lifter.

here's an example of a workout I do on a cut

deadlift at 1" deficit for a heavy double-90% or so (usually a pretty quick warm up)
bench 3x2
row or weighted chin 3x3 (seriously)
ab wheel (weighted) 5x5

and that's it. On a squat day I would do the same thing lifted above but do 2x2 top sets and call it a day

These have to be hard sets but you'll be out of the gym within an hour including warm ups. Less is more if your deficit is significant (>500 kcal deficit)

Otherwise you could do a recomp, where you save your carbs for after your heavy days and otherwise keep it lean and low calorie, and eat on high volume days.

I'm enjoying TM but I had the common problem of heavier-than-necessary volume days, so I lowered it and it's feeling great. Nice, my deadlift was the only lift that went and didn't stay the same. Is it because my upper body is lighter? I remember that Leeman mentioned something about his deadlift suffering if he got any fatter because leverages.

Regarding the workout advice, very interesting. So you recommend switching from TM to Sheiko? Right now I only know about the popular programs and haven't had much experience so I guess I need to experiment a bit.
