Yes, it's too much volume to be sustainable without gear.
It's a good well rounded program for beginners and novices, designed to give a solid strength base as well as muscle.
I wouldn't recommend squatting 5x5 3 times a week for a newbie, though.

I am only hesitant about it because if newbies do not have proper form, which 99.9% of them don't, suddenly squatting 3x a week with bad form can potentially do damage.
Personally, I would limit it to squatting twice a week.
Just my opinion.

i did it for a long time. good program but you will be in the gym atleast 90mins per session. ur legs will get heug squatting every session tho. i personally don't care about having huge legs as much as upper body so i dropped squats down to every other session and added more upper body stuff instead

It's Stronglifts 5x5 with accessories. Calling it "ICF" is a meme. All Blaha did was ripoff Stronglifts and add accessories without any consideration for effective programming.
