Would you ever take fitness advice from someone who is not fit?
in theory, yes
in practice, no

Person 1, does brosplits:
>Guys are deadlifts bad for your back?
Person 2, doesn't lift but understands common sense and basic knowledge:
>Actually they will strengthen your back quite nicely
Makes you think
I only take advice from a few people I know from the gym and use proper form. Anyone else I do not listen to, especially somebody who I've never seen in there before.

If they are Boris Sheiko or something. But not some skinnyfat cunt with Dunning Kruger.

>with Dunning Kruger
Don't pretend you know something.

If the guy is making sense, then yes.
Ethos is such a logical fallacy sometimes. What if a guy is on steroids (you're unaware of course) and he tells you to only use machines and eat as little as possible? Would you take that advice over a DYEL telling you to do GSLP and eat a lot?

Would you take makeup advice from Bozo the Clown?

Depends what their qualifications are. They either need education or experience. If they aren't fit I expect them to have some kind of education before I listen to their advice.

>a DYEL telling you to do GSLP and eat a lot?
I always take /fit/izen's advice with a grain of salt.

Person 2 can't find a nuanced response, he doesn't know what good form is and it's importance. There's no need to take advice from dyels listen to people who have achieved more than you and compare with others' findings

I know a guy who makes a good living who had never worked out a day in his life he just injects 500ng/dl test per week and takes an EC stack and he's a fitness instructor and makes a good living at it and people always compliment him on his physique and ask him for advice. He read a few fitness manuals that's it. Never lifts, runs or anything else. He plays video games all day, smokes weed and tans every so often. The most athletic thing he does is take his dog for a walk. True story. Most fitness advice is straight up garbage and appearance means absolutely nothing. In fact I'd stay away from advice from pro trainers their goals and methods are nothing like what your average joe wants to achieve which is big muscles and aesthetics. You can't get these without genetics and or roids.
