Most information online is in calories, so I use calories, but every menu/nutritional information piece only uses KJ.

It's primarily because most people still use kcals here, so if someone doesn't know the conversion, they're likely to go "Oh, 2,000kj, that's not that many calories right?".

If you are literally just starting out I'd recommend taking it a bit slower and easing into it.
Not sure about everyone else, but I incremented my deficit and exercise, which seemed to work out.

For example I started with just a 250 deficit, got used to that, added a lot of walking, got used to that, increased to a 500 deficit got used to that, added body weight exercises, etc etc until I was running a ~1000-750 deficit with 4 miles of walking 5 days a week, basic body weight exercises 2-3 times a week, and HIIT jump rope 3 times a week. If I had just started all of that out of no where I KNOW I would have quit, but over time it felt normal and routine.

Hey /fat/, need some advice.

I'm about 5'10, 182 pounds and I've been cutting for the past two months. During that period I've been jogging with the C-2-5K programme and have been lifting light dumbells (2.5kg, 15 reps 2 sets with this plan https://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/rudy6.htm).

I've finished the C-2-5K programme and jog a 5k every other day, if not that, then at least 3 times a week. However I haven't been as diligent about the weight lifting until the past month. Now, I'm not really getting as fatigued as I used to when I finish the workout. I know it's time for some new dumbells, so what weight do you reckon I should move onto? I've managed to build muscle in places where I had none, particularly my arms and I want to keep building a little more muscle so that when I've reached my goal weight I'm not a complete skinny-fat. Along with the new weights, should I get a different workout plan? This one's worked for me but I don't know if I should tweak it or not.

Additionally, it was my birthday a few days ago and I was gifted a Fitbit Flex 2 by my mother. Although I was initially impressed, I've found that it can't track any weights I lift, nor can it track any cycling I do on my exercise bike. It counts steps but I've already been doing that for the past 2 months with my phone and Google Fit. Honestly, I don't think I'm going to get much use of it. It has a function similar to MFP but if I want to log my food I'm more inclined to use that instead, seeing as I know how to use it. Should I just give it back to her, let her 'inherit' it? When this kinda thing has happened in the past I'm usually give reimbursed by my family for how much they paid, and I tend to use that money to buy something else. This time around, I'd want to use said money to buy a decent pair of new dumbells, something I'd actually use (not to mention the fat I've paid for them would most definitely motivate me to use them).

I think there needs to be a "tutorial" routine for absolute beginners. Something based on isolation lifts like bicep curls, tricep extentions, and lateral raises. There are other options you know. 1000 is a bit too much of a deficit, but you can go higher than 500. The sweet spot is somewhere around 7-800 kcal, in my opinion. Of course, it depends on your weight too, some fat guy with a 3000+ kcal TDEE can easily get away with a 1000 or even 1500 kcal deficit at the beginning.

I need help /fat/.

So, I used to use 2-3 packets of splenda per cup of coffee, and I've drank a lot of coffee throughout the day everyday.

I bought into the 0 calorie meme and didn't realize until I read /fit/ that each packet is pretty much 0.8 carbs and 4 calories.

So now I'm using Stevia liquid instead, but I feel like the hunger supression that I used to get isn't there anymore.

I can't stop thinking about food and craving it. Has other anons experienced this? I may go back to using splenda just cause it seems to make my appetite non existant.

Have you considered intermittent fasting? I've been doing 16:8 (fast 16 hours, eat all meals within an 8 hour window every day) for three weeks. It was tough at first, but now I am so much more comfortable with the feeling of hunger. I realize it is not an emergency if I haven't eaten in a little while and I know the feeling will eventually pass. I also realized a lot of the eating I was doing was out of convenience rather than hunger. Like I'd go get a glass of water at 10pm and see something in the fridge to snack on so I'd eat it even though I wasn't particularly hungry. Now I cannot eat unless it is between noon and 8pm, so all those random little snacks are gone.

Can someone explain to me why I do this shit? For the past half year I've gained about 25 pounds even though my goal has been to lose weight. I tell myself shit like, "I'm gonna eat whatever I want for these few days, or this whole week etc, and then I'm gonna go hard and get to my goal weight!". feels good, guys. i've almost halved my bodyfat percentage since joining /fat/, and i couldn't have been this consistent without this thread.
also, only lost 0.44lbs of LBM with a net loss of just under 31lbs.
198 @ 28% -> 167.2@ 15% (first test put me at 13%, but after double checking and rounding differently to be safe, i got 15 which is definitely more accurate)
still got some man tiddies, but much smaller. still got a belly, but i'm starting to see abs. i still have tons of neck fat, but my jaw is becoming more and more defined.
i should probably reduce my rate of loss tho. even tho some of it was definitely water, losing 4lb in a week when at 15% probably isn't healthy.

I have hypothyroidism and hypogonadism. I take 112 Levothyroxine and I'm on testosterone replacement therapy taking 1.5 test every 2 weeks. 2 questions, how have these 2 conditions contributed to my life of being overweight? How much is it helping now that I'm being properly treated for me 2 conditions?

water fasting is best done for 24 hours, 48 can be manageable if you're obese. some people go on weeks long crash diets and end up failing miserably or damaging their body. it's like intermittent fasting, but 10x as retarded.

not really as long as you take vitamins if you are doing it for long periods of time. i suggest you do some research . fasting for a week isn't dangerous at all. of course it isn't sustainable in the long run, but it's the best way to loose a lot of weight fast. you have to be very disciplined though. if you don't think you are capable stick to eating healthy at a caloric deficit of around 1000 calories and cardio/lifting.

Like if you don't have the willpower to stop yourself from overeating for the next days, you won't have it next time you want to overeat either, and after that, and so on.
