What's your essential equipment, /fit/?

I just got these for $80 and they make squatting A2G so much easier than my running shoes
>>
pretty much just those, and youre right, they make squatting miles easier, and the olympic lifts are way more stable with them, 10/10 would recommend
>>
>>41978108
Where'd you get those for so cheap?
>>
>>41978108

Thats pretty much it. Oh and chalk

deciding between these and PL3.0's

anyone with experience can give me a recommendation?
>>
>>41978808
If you are watching for a specific product (any specific product) you can make a Slickdeals.com account and set up alerts. I got a pair of Nike Romaleo 2's for just under $100. Which was before the 3's came out. It's all crowd sourced so you get deals that users vote on being good or not. It's great for fitness stuff because that doesn't sell out super fast when deals show up.
>>
>>41978108
I got a pair for $90 aud, second hand the description was "bought brand new for crossfit, only worn once" someone probably broke a back in my pair

These things are pretty good and pretty cheap.

Look up "Stretch out strap"

If you need to loosen up legs before lifting or whatever these things are good to have on hand.
>>
>>41978108
nice? but remember that lifting shoes aren't an excuse for you to not working on your ankle mobility
>>

It's nice to see /fit/ taking about interesting topics for once.

I'm not in this sport, but am intrigued by it and find it more interesting than grills and wojacks.
>>
There's currently a flash sale on Romaleo 2s over at strength shop for any UK fags who want to cop a pair for £150, just impulse bought a new pair for myself

What is the benefit that lifting shoes have over bare feet?

My issue isn't mobility, its pushing up the weight.

Ahhh. It's called "athletic tape"
>>
>>41981247
ankle mobility (more upright squat in e.g. oly) is the biggest advantage over bare feet.

And compared to regular shoes, weightlifting shoes are heavier and have a harder sole, gives you much better contact with the ground for squats, presses and olympic lifts (you don't want your shoe soles to compress under the weight)
>>
>>41981312
What you said was completely fine, he just doesn't know the difference between wraps and straps.

>>41981353
Are you retarded?
>>
>>41981363
You're retarded
>>
>>41981247
if you have the mobility and arent doing the olympic lifts then there is little to no reason to use lifts
>>
>>41981380
assuming he has other powerlifting shoes sure. But you absolutely don't want to have squishy running shoes for your squats m8
>>
>>41978823

>>
>>41981380
>>41981360
Cheers lads, pretty much what I thought. I was lifting in running shoes but switched to bare foot/socks 2 months ago.
>>
>>41981391
socks/converse are fine.
>>
>>41981418
flat sole/barefoot is theoretically better for deadlifts anyway. Lifters for squats and barefoot or chucks for deads would probably be most optimal. But hey, we're talking about edging out performance, it's not that important for a trainee
>>
>>41981420
agreed. But when I think about non-gym shoes the other guys at commercial gyms wear I usually think about squishy soles. Chucks are fine for squats (if you have enough ankle mobility) and even better for deads
>>
I bought reebok nanos and I immediately regretted my decision. I am looking to buy adipowers or powerlifts, but I seriously don't understand the difference.
>>
>>41981457
nanos are crossfit shoes and pretty much just hybrid shoes. Should have bought legacy lifters from reebok
>>
>>41981435
well yeah.. refer to my previous statement
>if you have the mobility and arent doing the olympic lifts then there is little to no reason to use lifts.
>>
>>41981457
harder soles, better fit and materials

>>
Lads I'm a squatlet (bench and ohp in advance mode, deadlift in intermediate, squat literally UNTRAINED territory). I can't get the numbers up because my balance is shit. Even when squat just body weight i feel like i might fall backwards etc.
i was thinking it's either shitty knees or lack of stretching. But can it be the shoes? I use plain running shoes
>>
>>41981553
Socks autismo for whom everything must be literal
>>
Lads, my adi powers literally just turned up 5 minutes ago. I got the size i wear for normal shoes, some people said to get half up but they are fine. Just did some squats with really toe in stance and they feel amazing, cant wait to hit up gym in a bit
>>
>>41981553
>tfw used to train in the only gym in koh tao (island in thailand) barefoot and shirtless
that was a fun summer
>tfw you have a career now so you can't go away for a whole month again
>>
>>41981473
The main reason to use them is the rock hard heel with toe flex and tight velcro strapping. Not so much the heel raise.
>>
>>41981725
>$1 has been deposited into your bank account.

the heel raise is the main benefit it gives you, yeah theres flex and the sole is pretty solid, but no more than a flat shoe or just squatting in your socks. and even then its not that important. You see bulgarian kids that can't afford oly shoes doing the oly lifts in competition with dress shoes because of the heel raise.

but for your average gym dude that just wants to do squat bench deadlift, lifts are a luxury purpose

There's a reason slavs and asians can casually squat with no effort.

Are you autistic? The point of that meme is that someone uses a generically relatable caption with an "ambiguous" gay porn gif/pic
>>
>>41978108

If you're doing other lifts like deadlift, OHP or rows on the same day, do you change into and out of those shoes at the gym?
>>
>>41981247
Bare foot squating is goat for mobility and ankle health, but if you want to pusb weight its comparable squating on a mattress. Oly shoes offer solid support and make highbar easy money
>>
>>41984780
i leave them on for everything except deadlifts
>>
i have some adipowers i bought used for like 40 bucks

wrist wraps for pressing that i stole from my gym's lost and found

a climbing chalk ball i keep in a ziploc bag

SBD sleeves that i haven't actually used in months

a big old boner for your mom
>>
Adipowers or Romaleos?
And lever or buckle belt from Inzer?
>>
Shoes, chalk, really fucking love having knee sleeves for longer sessions.
>>
Can anyone recommend a good all-purpose lifting shoe that works well for all lifts?

OP's look nice but are they only good for squatting?
>>
>>41981182
careful of them spiders bro
>>
>>41985699
There is no all-purpose lifting shoe.

Weightlifting shoes like adipowers and whatnot are nice for everything except deadlift though, in fact you could easily deadlift in them but they're suboptimal as compared to barefoot-type shoes.
>>
>>41985715

I just don't want to have to change shoes during my workout.

So I could DL in adipowers and it woukd be fine?
>>
>>41985749
Yes, but it'd be suboptimal as compared to simply taking them off, as your center of balance would change, it generally ends up putting your shoulders a bit ahead of the bar.

Personally I'm /owg/ so I rarely deadlift anyway and when I do I want it to mimic the initial pull of a clean so I don't mind.
>>
what makes adipowers/romaleos/other lifting shoes superior to chucks? I squat in flat converse, should I switch?

I'm planning to get some for my Cross training as soon as I have a bit of extra cash.

how comparable to real lifting shoes would a pair of chucks be? im planning on getting some high ankles specifically for lifting but would it be much better than lifting in socks?

>>41984832

Why aren't lifting shoes good for deadlifts as well?
>>
Is it ok to use lifting shoes on the treadmill?

>>41988842

>>
>>41988792
chucks and barefoot (which means with socks for you fucking literal autists out there) basically feel the same. If youre cheap and your gym allows it just go barefoot, then again if you have a pair of old chuck use them.

You could always buy some cheap boot shoes from rite aid of walgreens since they usually have a small heel.
>>
>>41988834
its preference.

Deads with lifting shoes activates quads more than hamstrings but overall it just preference.
>>
>>41985530
Anyone?
>>
>>41988962

Thanks, anon. If I'm doing high-bar squats the same day, though, then I'd want to have my dead lifts more focused on the hamstrings, no? So maybe barefoot for deads and lifters for the squats?
>>
>>41988982
fuck the lever.
if you change your waist size a bit, you have to use a screwdriver to move the damn lever. also, if you like to use different tightness for different lifts, you need to bring a screwdriver to the gym!
>>
>>41985823
yes

>>41985790
bench, press, back/front squat, power clean/snatch: all perfect for lifting shoes.
deadlift, all other accessories: barefooted or chucks etc.
>>
also, i suspect people keep asking about all purpose shoes because they think they can go to the gym directly with 1 pair of shoes on.

You don't!
Wl shoes are not for walking around or to "go from home to the gym"/ driving / etc.
You wear normal sneakers and keep the wl shoes in the bag and wear them on only for the exercises that require them!
>>
>>41988834
They add an additional 0.75 to your deadlift range of motion. It's like doing a small deficit deadlift
>>
I need some shoes that'll fit my wide feet. Vans don't work anymore. Any suggestions?
>>
Single prong belt (only for heavy lifts and only every other month)

Chalk

Resistance bands

Thick socks

If I'm trying to work on gaining strength in a specific area I'll incorporate other accessories into my program like a slingshot/squat suit/knee wraps/wrist straps.
>>
>>41990555
romaleos 2 or 3.

>>41990459
if you want 1 full inch, buy adidas leistungs, tho i reckon theyre more expensive than adipowers.

>>41990584
>(only for heavy lifts and only every other month)
there is no evidence about consistently or almost always using your belt (i wouldnt use it for warmups) and losing abs gainzZz or something.
>>
I dont understand how fucking new some of you are. If you're going for weightlifting shoes with a solid heel get do-wins if you're on budget or just save up and get Romaleos 2's if you can. Apparently the Romaleo 3's have too much flex in their shoe material. Adipowers are midrange but at that point you might as well just drop the 200 dollars on Romaleos
>>
>>41990782
why are you biased towards nike?
>>
>>41990798
no. Adipowers and do-wins are practically the same shoe
>>
>>41979135
holy shit mate, you can do this with anything, bands, wraps, just any rope.

You dont need special "stretching strap"
