>move to a new place
>no real gym in 40miles radius
>only fitness clubs with treadmills and couple old ass fuck weight stack machines
I'm building home gym in my garage. I ordered power rack, bench, one barbell, plates and adjustable dumbbells. Is there anything I need/you recommend? My leftover budget is $1500
>>
>lifting without people around to mire you
Why bother?
>>
>>41947317
kys please
>>
do you have a wife?
>>
>>41947272
Big mirror. If your just looking for extras

Ez curl bar
Chalk
Kettlebell or 2
Garage sale cardio shit (bowflex, elliptical, nordic trac, treadmill)
>>
>>41947272
Some rubber flooring should be obvious.
>>
>>41947272
literally buying a power cage tonight,

lat pulldown,
pull up bar,
bar holder for squats,
curl station
spotting bars

litterally the best peice of equipment ever,

that and my bench and i will be sorted!!
>>
Ab wheel
Parallettes
Gymnastics rings
Jump rope
Fat gripz
>>
man i wish i could spend that

>tfw only have a pair of dumbbells that go up to 50kg each
>>
>>41947570
yes, but she's triathlete, she only wanted pull up bar
>>41947662
those are good suggestions, especially EZ bar, thanks
>>
>>41947272
think about cables, those are super versatile and should be less than $700
>>
Don't get adjustable dumbells. They're extremely expensive compared to what else you can do. Also, you'll find their weight insufficient after a while.

>Buy an Olympic dumbell (the one that will hold your 2" diameter Olympic plates)

Then, you only have to buy a few duplicates of the smaller plates (2.5's, 5's, and 10's)

I did this a few weeks ago so that I could do DB presses and alternate with OHP.

It's great

Get a neck harness, fat grips, and a weight belt.

Maybe. Dip station too.

I'd also throw in a trap bar with some rubber plates.
>>
>>41947272
It's a good start. I used that for my first six months having a homegym, then I ordered a lat station addon to it so I could do lat pulldowns, seated cable rows etc. It was on sale and I'm happy with it. Got a large mirror on the wall and foam floor mats too.

Looking online, there are TONS of very cheap stuff, that's barely even used. People buy things with high ambition md then never use it, let it collect dust in the garage a few years, then sell it. Or they have to move and they don't have enough space etc.
It's definitely worth a look.
>>
>>41947272
if you have room and can find a cheap one get a back extension bench

it's a luxury but you already have all the essentials

>Don't get adjustable dumbells. They're extremely expensive compared to what else you can do

what the fuck are you on about? I got some 18" adjustable dumbbells for £15 that are rated at 80kg each, it's gonna be a long fucking time before you're DB pressing 80s
>>
>>41949295
>>41949331
Shit, I was thinking of the Bowflex/meme tier types.

These are fine.
>>
Make sure you have good ventilation, I tried using a storage locker once and it got too sweaty
>>
>>41949458
Oh yea fuck those things. $300 for ONE of the heavy ones.
>>
I want to get a home gym because I'm too self conscious to bring my obese ass to the gym. I just need room
>>
>>41947272
1500 leftover is a lot

you could get a sled for HIIT
resistance bands
other than that I'd wait a long time and if you get really serious the two best machines to have would be a GHR and a reverse hyper instead of blowing your cash on random crap
>>
>>41950773
If you're obese, just start with running / walking every night until you've lost some weight and then start bodyweight training. No excuses. You don't need gym equipment to start getting in shape.
>>
>>41947272
OP you need to hook up some form of cardio that's fun.

grab a rowing machine if you've got the space.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003YPZWT2/ref=s9_acsd_top_hd_bw_bEIWN_c_x_4_w?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-3&pf_rd_r=T0DJ0QAFTCZ3HCXYSQQR&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=bba84778-48cf-5554-954c-ba85abd81d4d&pf_rd_i=3407791

also i hope that barbell you bought ain't some cheap cap piece of shit. hope you got a rogue.
>>
>>41947755
>tfw I jump rope without the rope
>>
>>41947272
I'd also get an adjustable EZ curl bar just have options for your accessory exercises.

Depending on where you live I would also recommend a treadmill if the weather gets to harmful. I live right next to Death Valley in Arizona and during the summer there is no chance of going for a run when the trash cans are melting and the cars are literally hot enough to bake cookies.

Sometimes it is a little lonely in a home gym. But then I remember the shitty music that gets blasted out of every gym's speakers, then I remember having to wait for equipment, then I remember people trying to give lifting advice midway through lift.
It was worth it.

You got a decent speaker set-up in your garage?

My set up

Powertec Power_rack with latt attachment
Powerblock with stand ( only decent adjustable dumbells out there)
5 Large 6x4 ft gym matts ( get thicker the better)
Powertec bench
Ezy curl bar
Tricep bar
Weight rack
4x25 bumper plate, 2x10 bumper plate, 2x5 bumper plate
Hex plates ( just buy round ones I was an idiot)
2x15, 2x10, 2x5, 2x2.5, 2x20
28mm olympic bar ( Don't cheap out on the bar)

Get some matts op. Unless you want to break your floor.
>>
>>41947272
Did you build a platform for the rack and for deadlifting? Plywood and horse stall matting will save our garage floor.

Also get a weight tree.
>>
>>41947272
How can I find out if the the second floor in my apartment is sturdy enough to withstand lifting up to around 500lbs? Could you use some kind of platform that's able to distribute the weight over a bigger area?
>>
>>41952114
Dude, apartments are designed with withstand 300+ tubs of lard sitting on 200+ pound couches among other things, I'm sure you'll be fine. I'd be more worried about noise complaints from deadlifting 500lbs over your downstairs neighbor's dining room.
>>
>>41947272
sounds like you are being jewed for gains.

i would rather say keep doing 5x5 and add in some chin ups after every workout as well as some band pull aparts in between every push set and band/cable facepulls after every other workout.

im no PT though

i have a heavy bag with stand for cardio , feels real good to punch shit.
>>
>>41952608
also gives huge fucking delts
>>
>>41952409
You're not so stupid that you think dropping 300lbs on the floor is the same amount of force as 300lbs sitting on the floor, are you? I mean you operate a computer and manage to use the internet. I refuse to believe a single person is that fucking stupid. You pretty much just killed the last bit of hope I had. Thanks.
>>
>>41949458
Dec don't but them fucking bowflex ones. Way to bulky.
>>41947272
Make sure you buy good bumper plates and good bar and a real fucking rack not some shit. Also build yourself a platform I just finished my platform couple days ago. Love it
>>
Is it a good idea to buy weights online?
>>
>>41952747
The internet has gone downhill since niggers and women got smartphones.
>>
>>41949331
80kg each? no, you didnt buy those because they don't exist. 40kg each dumbbell is what you bought and it cost you no less than $400. they will be useless in about 3-5 months if you actually use them
>>
>>41953057

Here's my set up. I've had a full sized power rack before but had to size down to this half rack due to moving and space requirements.

Half rack: $200 new
Olympic weight set: $200 new
2x adjustable Olympic dumbbells (only one shown in photo): $35 each new
Incline bench: $100 after $50 discount
Ez curl bar: $20 used off Craigslist
Floor padding: $15 new from Walmart

I have a weight tree and some bands not shown in this photo too.

I have everything I could really ask for and it's worth every penny to train anytime I want.
>>
>>41953335
Good thing it was cheap. You won't feel bad for throwing it away when it rusts in a year.
>>
>>41953389
>Implying I don't cover it with a tarp
>Implying there isn't products to prevent rusting

Go finish your first cycle of starting strength retard
>>
I have two choices, spend $650 for a two year membership at my local chain gym. It's a 24hr fitness so it's not shit. Plus there's sport activities like basketball and a pool (though I can't swim.)

If not that then I'm about to drop $500 on the following:

Power Rack: $200
Bench: $100
Resistance Bands: $10
Foam Roller: $20
Olympic Dumbbells: $20
Mirrors: $40

Already have weights, exercise bike, treadmill and dumbbells. Is there anything else I am missing that is essential. I won't have funds to use for this in the future.

>>
>>41954218
That the Rep Fitness bench? I'm thinking of getting this relationship soon. How you like it?
>>
>>41954266
Rusted iron is plenty cool. Rusted bolts that hold the thing together aren't.
>>
>>41954191
what country do you live in that gym memberships are more than $12 a month?
>>
>>41954525
USA.

there is another mom and pop gym that costs about the same but doesn't have all the cool amenities to go with it. plus the place has way too many older folks.

The cheapest gym I know of is Blink, which is $15/month I believe.
>>
>>41954218
Titan t3 is the only way to go. All rogue infinity series accessories will fit so you can't beat it.
>>
>>41947272
Get a fatigue mat so you don't fuck up your floor and they reduce noise, too. Also consider a dip station and weight sled for cardio and leg gains at the same time.
>>
>>41954300

It is. I can't complain, it's a decent bench. The wheels are nice for moving it to do squats/pullups/OHP.
>>
>>41948410
>she only wanted pull up bar
whats there more to want?
>>
strongman stuff

yoke, axle, farmers handles and a log. Good fun stuff and actually transitions well to real life applications
