Hi, are you still there OP? Can you tell us more about what you've got?

Five years ago, when I was nineteen, I was diagnosed with stage two thyroid cancer that had spread through my neck. After a year of treatment and a round of intense radiation and chemo therapy, my doctor said that I was as good as I was going to get and we'd see what happened.

It was a hard fight, and I am reminded of it every day, twice a day, as I take the pills that keep me alive. Cancer is a cross to bare. This isn't a lifetime movie.

But you learn to live with it. After getting back on my feet, I attended a university. My mind was cloudy from emotions and the new chemicals keeping me going. My body and mind slowly adapted. I joined a club team, made friends, became the best at my sport in the school, was placed on our official roster, became captain, and found true success. I never could have imagined it. I still hardly believe it. My body was wasting away, but i didn't give up. It still wants to waste. I won't ever get much beyond "thin" but I've come to understand that there's success to be found.

I'll monitor this thread until I fall asleep

I was diagnosed with MS on Christmas 2013 at age 21 or thereabouts, given a bunch of pain medication that made me feel happy for the first time since age 4 and pretty much pushed me do all the things I thought I would never do. I now have a motorcycle, guns, I work for myself and I have a few friends. Most of all, I place my well-being first now, instead of some misplaced effort to generate value for someone who doesn't even know my name.

A bunch of stuff I'd like to do, like being in a war, won't happen because I need to pop $200 in pills every day, but I'm close to perfectly functional, all that's different is I get a strange wavy feeling sometimes when tired or exerted. I don't think I'd ever have gone to a gym had it not been for my diagnosis.
