Let's have a civilized discussion /fit/

I fap at least once a day while watching porn, it fucks up with my brain as I am always depressed, tired with low energy and anxious. I have noticed that once I'm stressed over something i resort to fapping to "escape" from that reality.

You see, i have read a lot about masturbation and I am sure there's no physical downsides of masturbating, it's a completely normal thing to do (as regular sex) and i dont think anyone should fall for the "le hair loss" meme and other kinds of bullshit.

On a mental health area though, i think it really fucks up with your brain imbalance, being totally dependent on that dopamine and shit. I have stopped masturbating for weeks and while the first days are hell the next days are great because you feel so confident, I approach girls easier and overall I feel more alpha....but I always end up resorting to fapping and watching porn.

Help me /fit/, share similar experiences, what has helped you, what do you think is a normal fap rate and so on.

Installing K9 to block porn and set the password to something i don't know has helped me somewhat, as it is easier to refrain when i don't get so much strong stimuli

I still masturbate like twice per day and it's all fine, in fact, if I wasn't feeling like masturbating once per day at least I would be worried about my libido.
Doesn't going to the gym make you ultra horny? At least it happens to me.

Also, I think your depression, low energy, and anxiety comes from way other things rather than masturbation/porn.
I used to have all of those and did a medical check up, I came out bad, really bad. Changed my diet for the better, started taking some anxiety meds, and well, going to the gym again (I dropped it before then). Cardio is what changed me the most, makes me feel alright and normal, my anxiety isn't crazy but I feel active and want to do things during the day.

Hm, if that's true then it explains why I can't stop touching myself these days. I just recently kicked an ssri and I'm now completely off it. These days I'm jacking it maybe 3 or 4 times a day average. I thought it was just because my sex drive is now ful functional, not being inhibited by a drug. Guess there's other things at play too.

I think that quitting any addiction is made 100x harder if you're already unhealthy. This is my experience, and I'll cover two different aspects of it. Addiction is a symptom of a problem, but not the actual problem itself. It causes problems, but it's not the root of it. My experience is that masturbation is a response to stress, and if your body (and consequently your mind) is stressed from being unhealthy, you'll get stuck in a constant cycle of trying to nurse that stress.

If I'm unhealthy I don't even bother trying to stop. I went to a party on friday night, drank way too much, and I've been jerking off and eating like shit because of it. I could have planned ahead to have recovered faster, like prepared food and so on, but I wasn't expecting to go. It doesn't matter though because if you understand how the body/mind connection works, you can easily pull yourself out, or rather, just walk out the backdoor with minimal effort. You just buy clean food, and get back to exercising. If your body doesn't feel absolutely uber, then something is wrong (you probably have a deficiency or don't understand nutrition well enough). You have to be honest about whether your body does feel good, it's easy to lie to yourself. Most nofappers have to try so hard because their bodies are desperate to relieve stress, and they fail because their efforts end up putting more stress on themselves. Curing addiction has to be effortless or it won't work. I've been addicted to drugs, masturbation, food, smoking, all to varying extents.

There's a psychological element to it too, which is important because psychological addiction is real too. Even if you're healthy you can feel compelled by your imagination to do it, but this is a minor problem compared to the former. If you understand zen to a decent degree then this isn't really a problem.
