>Tfw gained weight but for some reason all of it in my sides.
Seriously how? Is it because I'm getting older? First I'll say I've lost weight before and don't really find it hard to lose weight anymore (thanks /fit/) but how/why did this happen? Is it because I'm getting older or ate something in particular? I'm 22 and the fat just weight straight to my sides, I got a nasty muffin top but oddly enough, no fat in the areas where I lost the most weight.
>>
>>41909230
Dude seriously.
I was 256 on April 30th, and now I'm 242lbs.
Why? Because I eat 1800 calories a day and I do some baby tier lifting and some cardio (on the exercise bike). Don't count your exercise in My Fitness Pal and watch the pounds fly off.
>>
>>41909239
I've found that people that say this disregard the whole bodies weight gain because it was a minor difference overall.

Sure, your sides may have gained more because your body just said here is good, but guaranteed you gained every also.

I'm found a full proof way to test how fat you are. Get a hand held mirror. Lean over so you are looking at the floor. Observe through mirror your now ugly, disgusting, fat face. Panic and hit the diet and exercise hard.

She understands that she's not in a good place health wise, and is trying to get better. She's slowly getting there but she's not willing to listen to my sister (Ph.D in pharmaceutical biochemistry) or me (medical student).

Oh ok I got you.

1 year progress report:
6'5
SW 340
CW 258
Starting BMI 40.3 Starting waist 46
Current BMI 30.6 Current waist 38
Mostly body weight. Can do 5 pull ups in a row. 30 push ups, 20 bw squats. 225 bench x 6. 115 squats x 5, lots of ball sit ups and lots of walking. slowly working on everything else.

I'm about 30 pounds away from looking normal/fitish. I'm down to XL in a dickies work shirt(hides my now minimal man tits).

Mostly low carb. No sugar or corn syrup. No bread just those low carb super high fiber tortillas. Lots of fruit and veg. Chicken. Cheese Burgers(bunless). Avocados. Hummus. Brats. Home made sour cream dip(fresh herbs and all that) with pork rinds.
I cheat every other Friday at the chinese buffet(I still don't go apeshit) and use all 2600 calls on one meal(including the 1000 I burn for the work out).
Lotsa water. Lotsa sleep. Lotsa stretching. If I drink(not often) it's 1 or 2 Guiness/Stella. No cigs, no vape, no green.

I think I'm gonna make it bros.
>>
Started at 235 pounds at 6ft, and now im down to 220. Aiming for 200 and see what my body looks like from there so i can decide if i wanna start bulking.

This. I started at 330 in mid march. As of this morning I'm down to 283. I've been eating 1200-1500 calories a day, and slowly adding more exercise (walking, swimming, and body weight exercises). I allow myself 1 cheat day a month to eat out with friends.

I also agree with not counting calories burned. It helps me to think that my exercise just makes up for any mistakes in the calorie counting of the food i eat (discrepancies in the nutrition facts, or the times I let an extra gram of something slip on to my plate). If it turns out I actually exercised enough for it to make a substantial difference, It's just a pleasant surprise.

>>
Alright /fat/, the sticky seems to be down for me so I've got nothing to go by but the advice of those who might be passing by on this thread.

So I'm a roller coaster of fitness. I've been morbidly, obese, fat, healthy, slim and back again. Usually I hover around 217-220 but I lift enough that my posture is good so I hold it well and so it is not actually an issue in terms of health or mobility in terms of life threatening issues at all.

I'm lonely, and frustrated though and a lot of this has to do with body image and frankly life choices.

So here's the gist; I want to maintain my strength as much as I can while losing weight. The actual caloric management is less of a challenge than the types of activities I should be focused on in terms of rep ranges and sets across.

I also work in a relatively physical job so weight loss that's too rapid would be (and has been in the past when I was foolish) stressful on the body and likely to resolve in injury (I managed to mess my back up pretty mean for a few weeks when I lifted something I do normally while failing to respect the reduced caloric intake and body mass changed the way my body handled loads).

I'm an intermediate lifter in most regards (squats a little weak) but otherwise I'm lifting numbers that aren't likely to go up without concerted effort and dietary excess to gain lean mass.

The trouble is I don't feel motivated to do that right now. I honestly think I'd be better off dropping weight to improve my overall fitness instead so I can either re-enlist in the reserves and then go navy marine engineering tech, or else use the extra money to go into corrections officer or something better paying career than the not very lucrative (but admittedly somewhat satisfying) job I have.

Advice/motivational stories sought. Especially if there's examples of what if any declines in physical capability (strength) have been for current /fit/izens that were former /fat/izens.

At 300+ pounds you could eat two medium sized pizzas and a shitload of vegetable a day and still lose weight.
>>

>>
>>41910180
You could do that at 80kg too... provided you were male and tall enough
Frozen pizzas are only like 4500kj each
>>
>>41910165
I've lost a great deal of weight before on a large calorie deficit. I didn't exercise and slept a lot. In the end I weighed a lot less, but I lost much of my muscle mass and was very weak.

5 years later I gained it all back.

Now I've changed my technique. I'm eating at a less severe deficit and doing the exercise bike and weightifting. So far I've lost 14 pounds and I am actually stronger. Strength gains aren't happening much, but I am certainly not getting weaker.

>On an unrelated note, what's the secret to meeting and getting good girls rainman?
Kek, what makes you think I'm a worthy source of wisdom on such a topic?
The biggest tip I can give is "Walks softly and carry a big gun." This roughly translate to "be humble, not because you have to be, but because you choose to be." Always be confident in how you carry yourself; if you do something embarrassing, own it! Said something foolish? Own it! Have a bit of an ego, don't be afraid to swing your dick around, but also be playful about it; if someone attacks a flaw to try and discredit your ego, see above, own it and make it yours. It may sound silly but just like back in grade school, if you laugh along with the bullies, they lose their power over you. It not only applies to women but a confident man is an attractive man.

That's the best I can do
>>

I'm losing weight but I get down on myself a lot, a few years back Wellbutrin really helped me out of a rut mentally, and I think I want to get back on it again because I remember it being kind of like a stimulant and I'm thinking it might help with the weightloss too.

I'm 182lbs 6'0", easily 25%+ body fat (maybe even 30%). I'm obese if I go by body fat percentage. I know I should be lifting while cutting, but there's no point. I won't make any gains and lifting is shit when you're cutting. I just don't have the energy for it.

I'm going to lose 25lbs first and hopefully drop to 16-19% bf and decide if it's time to lift. If I'm stilly very skinnyfat, I'll lose some more slowly while lifting.

Your tdee is probably 2100-2300kcal at best. You're probably losing weight very slowly. Lifting barely burns any calories, bro.
Start eating 1200-1500kcal a day or just do 500kcal of cardio every day.

/fat/ I need to talk to someone and this is the only place I feel like I'd listen to so bear with me I'll try to keep this short.
I was a complete fatass, my BMI was over 30. Decided to change, fast forward 4-5 months, now I have a BMI of 22.8 and I'm literally 1 kg away from my ideal weight. I counted kcals and macros every day, now shitty foods, learnt how to cook healthy meals and forced myself to do so every day, never cheated and hit the gym every other day. I didn't even have withdrawals, everything went smooth. Losing weight was a part of a un-fucking my shit up in general and I even quitted 4chan, this is my first post in months.
Now the problems is in the last days I've been having insane cravings, but not about some kind of food in particular since I could easily fit that in my daily calories intake and get over it, what I'm craving is eating like a disgusting fatass, just raiding the store and spending a whole day cooking and eating. Of course this is a very bad idea since I don't even want to calculate how much weeks of deficit and gym I'd be throwing out of the window but I feel like I'm going insane. I go in front of the mirror 2-3 times a day to look at my progress and stave off the thoughts but it's getting harder and harder, fuck I can't concentrate anymore.
What should I do? Just give in and hate myself for several weeks or somehow show some balls and keep resisting until I can? Help I feel like a complete dumbass.
>>
>>41911329
I've read cravings are generally caused my a nutritional deficiency. So maybe there is something in your diet you are missing.

What does your diet look like? You may want to try switching to a higher fat diet since that is more satiating. Keep carbs and sugar super low.

You might also benefit from intermittent fasting or OMAD, because at the end of the day you can eat all your calories for dinner and it feels more like binging even though you are still within your TDEE.
>>
>>41911329
Don't binge - This is now my fourth time dieting down, every time I've been fucked over by binging again. The stress of life was the problem that led me to binge.
Find something else to do and you'll be happier for it. I'm 105KG now, I was 90KG not so long ago after dieting from 115KG (my heaviest). Now I've removed the stress in my life for the most part I'm just going to concentrate on losing weight.
>>
>>41911322
Good job! You might find your weight loss shows down but this is because you tend to lose a bit of water weight at the beginning. Don't let this discourage you, weight loss isn't linear. Just keep doing what you're doing!

>>
>>41911384
It depends what you have access to for strength training. If you have access to a gym/homegym and can do a weight lifting routine then people normally say Stronglifts 5x5 is a good place to start if you're a beginner, potentially moving to PPL. If you don't have access, you can go into bodyweight fitness / calisthenics. I believe there is a thread on here for it but reddit has some good guides too.

You have to think about what you're going to get out of it. I know the nasty feelings I would have after gorging myself on food like that would not make it worth it at all. I would feel regret, disgust with myself, uncomfortable.

I know that instead I could make a burger and chips meal that may come to 1000kcals (see attached) but I would enjoy it. I wouldn't feel that shame afterwards. I would plan the rest of my day around it and go for a run in the morning. I also wouldn't have a shit load of water retention from sodium since it would be low comparative to a restaurant or takeaway meal. I wouldn't wake up with that horrible dry mouth.

You're having a battle with yourself but try to be mindful about how you would feel blowing out on a 3k+ binge compared to a homemade, satisfying meal.
>>

>>
>>41911425
R/bodyweightfitness they have lots of good videos so you can make sure you're doing the exercises correctly. They also show variations to increase the difficulty when you might be starting to find it easy. In weightlifting this would just be by adding more weight.
>>

>I would feel regret, disgust with myself, uncomfortable.
Which is the sole reason I'm here whining instead of eating. I think I'm gonna compromise and resize what is haunting my mind.
>>
>>41911475
I think if you make it at home you would still feel in control. You would know what the damage is and you could adjust for that over the next few days - cut your allowance down by 150 to 200. Think about maybe having it as just your one meal for the day as well. As long as you stay in control.

If you get full, be mindful of that. Stick it in a container and have it the next day.
>>

Upper Body day
Lower body day
HIIT day (I do an insanity video + abs insanity video)
Rest day
then repeat.

like i said i eat 1700cal a day, except on my rest day where I up it to 1900 since i start lifting the next day.

Eat and drink until you're on the downhill side of the cold. Starving yourself when your body is trying to fight off an infection will just prolong it. Don't listen to that other faggot who is telling you to continue cutting and take meme vitamins, that won't help you, your body needs fuel and raw materials for your immune system. You can lose weight and gain muscle at the same time if you are a beginner assuming you are getting enough protein, aren't starving yourself, and lifting enough.

6'0" and 178lbs (183cm, 81kg)

I started with SS, but switched to pic related shortly after because it felt lacking in some areas. I did appreciate getting detailed explanations on how to do the important lifts properly. My main goal right now is to get down to 10% BF without looking shit. I'm just trying to find out if I can eat a deficit and that excess fat can be burned as energy and turned to muscle, or if I should be eating surplus or neutral.
>>
>>41912130
You fat isn't going to turn into muscle. But as long as you are fairly new to lifting you should be able to build muscle, while losing fat, at a deficit. But at your weight you could probably just eat maintenance or slightly above and be fine, with the understanding that you can cut harder later after you've built some muscle if you need to.

I'm struggling to lose weight and I don't really know why.

177cm + 80kg
endomorph/skinnyfat body.

about 4 weeks ago I cut bread and pasta out of my diet completely.
Meal wise a day looks similar to this:

breakfast: half a mug of 0% fat natural yoghurt with blueberries/raspberries.

lunch: omlette with chicken/ courghetti with an egg + chicken.

dinner: broccoli rice + chicken + onion/any other left over vegetables.

I don't know if I'm not eating enough but I don't feel hungry at all.
I'm drinking all the water I need too.

Training wise - I've been injured but have just restarted my oly programme which is 4/5 times a week.

I don't really do any cardio but I'm gonna buy a bike so I can start cycling to work.

I know this isn't much to go on but I'm at a loss in regards to what to do.
any advice/help would be appreciated.

I've been lifting for about two weeks straight now (weight training one day, then cardio on my off day) and honestly I'm fucking addicted. feels like grinding out an rpg character. Thing is, I want to do weight training every day, and seems to be the consensus online that when your starting you need much less rest then those who are lifting their max and going for insane training. Will I be good to work on my shit every day?

Also what is the difference between strength and gains? I was under the assumption it was the same but seems to be that one is literally just the size on your body and the other is actual ability to lift heavier things?

Fiber wise I'll eat salads and stuff if I'm at a restaurant and I take psyllium husks daily.

I think I'm just getting super frustrated as at my lowest competing weight I was in 69kg category (with dehydration). I was naturally around 72-73kg.

Now I'm just fat 2-3 months later post injury (and weaker).
As bread made up a huge part of my diet I thought I'd see differences a lot quicker.
I'm just a bit deflated at the whole situation I think.

I'm not one to believe in conspiracies, but I'm beginning to wonder about our food. There is sugar in places where it makes you wonder how it even got there. Calorie dense doesn't even begin to describe most of our fast food. Popular places like Starbucks and Sonic have drinks that are over 1000kcal. DRINKS. HFCS is in just about any product in the aisles of our grocery stores. I basically only buy from the outer edge now: the vegetables, fruits and meats.

God help me if I forget or don't have time to pack lunch though, because it is literally impossible to eat healthy quickly in Amerilard.

I can't remember exactly the name of it, but I saw it in a documentary about sugar and carbohydrates in general, that there is an actual industrial consortium on what I believe was called "the highest palatable point of pleasure" or something of the sort.
It's basically the study of a scientist who developed a research on what ratio of sweet/acid/salty/sour is needed to reach the best palatability, and though his study wasn't necessarily wrong or oriented towards an agenda, the food industry was quick to take advantage of that new field of study and basically pump out more and more processed foods that, in theory, their ingredients wouldn't need or have the amount of sugar found in them, just to reach that point, and it is claimed that it's whole purpose is to create addiction, nothing more nothing less, so that there is repeated consumption and profit.

God willing Ameribro you'll overcome. I know the state of affairs of your food industry is really deplorable as compared to some relatively places in Europe, but god damn it's looking like soon we will be more and more flooded with these products inspired by the US, made by US companies on our very soils.
I remember clearly a few months back being in a hypermarket (kind of like wal-mart) to save a few bucks and passing by Doritos while shopping there. In a fucking cheap and worned down ghetto area of the city. But that is how they make their bucks, they prey on the poor and easily influencable who seek immediate reward and novelty from a country who's ""cuisine"" is deemed to be decadent.
But not all hope is lost, there is a lot of organic and fair trade stores popping up, who specialized in proper nutrition and only have good foods, even snacks and "junk" that is somewhat healthy. Just gotta make money to afford these places.

I said coal, but it is actually activated charcoal in English. I found that out trying to dig up the articles I read on the subject for you to see the benefits. So activated charcoal has many uses, but I use it primarily to alleviate gas, cleanse toxins in the stomach (it's used to filter basically because of millions of pore in the chemical), also very good on kidneys and liver as a result.
Reduces bad cholesterol, increases good one.

here's the source, which is an article, citing medical sources: https://draxe.com/activated-charcoal-uses/
I just compiled the main arguments, and what interests me in it.

I also found out you call beer yeast "brewer's yeast" in english.
>Diabetes. Early research suggests that taking brewer’s yeast containing chromium by mouth for 8 weeks can reduce blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. It may also reduce the need to use certain diabetes medications.

>High cholesterol. Early research suggests that taking brewer’s yeast containing chromium by mouth for 8 weeks can decrease blood levels of total cholesterol and increase levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL or “good”) cholesterol in people with high cholesterol.

kek don't listen to his bullshit anon, this guy doesn't know what he's talking about. He's probably a mealcuck thinking the proper three way gangbang of modern society is what is best for people. He just doesn't have the self control to do something like OMAD thus goes around discrediting it's beneficial properties.
But let's give him credit, he pointed you the right way. do your own research and you'll find out his comment about insulin sensitivity is unfounded and actually proved wrong with scientific research.
Here's a quick rundown for you : http://siimland.com/one-meal-a-day-benefits/

take a good look at that insulin spikes/fat loss graph and see for yourself, that OMAD (as part of an IF regimen) is actually beneficial to reducing insulin resistance (thus risk of diabetes), by lowering the insulin spikes frequency. It's not rocket science yet some retards on here still go about claiming shit.
Guess what, you don't eat for longer than usual = no sugar in body = much insulin spikes during the day. How fucking complicated it is to crack this code?
>>
>>41914260
= much less* insulin spikes.
>>
>>41914260
Why does everyone act like it's so fucking hard to avoid getting diabetes? Eat properly, cut out all the junk food, the high sugar food, the calorie dense food, stick to your tdee you can have three meals, six meals, one meal, ten meals it doesn't matter.

Not criticizing OMAD or IF either but having only 4 references to make such bold claims (and shill a meal plan/fitness program) is really poor form.

First of all, pal, I only brushed upon the topic of diabetes because it is a result of insulin resistance, which was relevant to the implied counter argument the other anon made against OMAD about spiking insulin. So no, I'm not fucking obsessed with diabetes, but that's a health concern that should be on anyone's minds, especially in a thread for overweight people. And the kind of mentality that health shames people for being very careful not to contract diseases such as diabetes is counterproductive to the betterment of the general scientific culture pool here, and health interests of many.
Second of all, I appreciate you coming out of your way to say you are not trying to criticize OMAD or IF, it's good intentions like yours, such as the list of good advice you gave precedently, that makes this thread advance. Agree on the fact that the number of meals don't matter.
You have to understand that I only came to the defense of OMAD because we are being criticized for making the decision to eat one meal. So if numbers of meal don't matter, why does it matter to any other people?
Also, any references that apply to intermittent fasting also apply by definition to OMAD. And there are countless studies done on the topic. You don't have to be a genius to figure out that the benefits you'll get from 16-18hrs of fasting, you can get with 23-24hrs.
Those are not bold claims. Those are reasonable evidence based data. But here's the kicker, I'm not your personal research assistant, moron, if you want to know the scientific truth, you're gonna have to do better than just sit on your ass and throw a pick at a theory to see who's going to serve you the data on a platter, and at best you'll try to stomach it in your cognitively biased stance on the topic already.
If I want to cite a normie tier source that congregates a couple of scientific facts on the benefits of OMAD in the form of a meta analysis study, it's because I can't be fucked doing the work for you.

Sorry for the delay on the /fat/ contest this week, everyone. Had a heavy few days and my body decided to sleep for 14 hours.

That aside, I have the winner of the tournament and the winners for this week's /fat/ contest...

The Grand Prize Winner of the first monthly /fat/ tournament issss...

GLITCH! A surprising underdog throughout, Glitch pulled it together in the end and soundly defeated everyone else in the Battle Royale Finale. Amazing job throughout the tournament, Glitch. And great overall progress.

The next /fat/ tournament will be organized and ready for the first match-ups on 07/07, so watch out for an update on that.

As for our main contest, the highest percentage lost winners are...
1st Place - IgnoreAnt
2nd Place - Mint Milano
3rd Place - Glitch

And our Pounds Lost Winners
1st Place - IgnoreAnt
2nd Place - Mint Milano
3rd Place - BBC

Damn good job to everyone involved and everyone who weighed in. Everyone who did not weigh in this week, you have either been added to our hall of shame or are now on notice. Make sure you weigh in next week! Now, moving onto business for the next week, I have a surprisingly high number of open slots for the contest. Currently at 13 openings, if you want to join the contest please provide me the following information -

Name -
Height -
Starting Weight -
Current Weight -
Goal Weight -
Pounds to Lose (If more than 20 lbs, list '20' to start off with) -
Losertown Goal Date (Link is in the OP, give me the goal date FOR THAT FIRST 20 LBS ONLY) -

Once I have that information I'll get all your data calculated and you'll be ready for the 06/30 weigh-in. Also bear in mind, anyone new MUST WEIGH IN or else you're automatically out of the contest. No free passes.

Thanks /fat/ties and happy cutting.

Man I love that kind of weather...Here we had a similar anticyclonic depression which led to a series of drying heat waves for a few days followed by the break of the palpable electric tension in the cloud formations and a hail of rain and thunder come crashing down.
I sleep in the attic of my house, and just listen to the rain drops on the roof and feel the changing of the atmosphere as it happens, then there's the smell of the wet soil that's sickeningly pleasant.
