I tried ego lifting for OHP today. I hit 205 for 8 reps crazy easy so loaded up the 2pl8(PR btw) and struggled for 3. On the 4th my entire body shook like I was having a seizure but I managed to get it up. People were miring hardcore and I got a few handshakes from guys I know but that 4th rep hurt my pride.

My advice to you is to start random conversations with other blokes at your gym. I've done this multiple times. For example, if someone is squatting ask if they prefer high bar or low bar etc. There was a guy at the gym who wrote his progress in a notebook and I asked him to have a look. Ending up talking for 20 minutes about random shit. If people are interested in talking it's really easy to have a flowing conversation. If you talk to guys from the gym you won't be as nervous because there's no sexual tension or anything, so its a good opportunity to practise.

As you get better and better you're realise that there are many specific conversation starters you could use with many different people. You ever notice how old people say random shit to other random people? It's seriously easy, no one judges you if you're confident.

It was a fairly older black dude who only does smith machine bench press. He keeps telling me where to get cheap protein and keeps judging my lifts. Many times he comes up to me and just says "are you done already?", despite not knowing how many sets and reps I just did. Other times when I'm resting with a friend on the outside park area he tells me I'm resting for too long.

was doing some leg presses to tire myself out at the end of a leg workout a couple of years ago. Was re racking weights when I was done, and smashed my skull into the end of a smith machine barbell when I was about to turn around to grab my bag while bent over. The noise of my thick ass scalp hitting the metal still echoes in the gym and makes people laugh to this day.
Kind of had this face when I tried to keep myself from screaming on my way out
