How long do you hold a stretch for? I see 20 seconds up a few

Doing dynamic warm ups is better, but with a back injury I don't know, ask a doctor.

I didn't follow the reccomened time for stretching. Let alone I didn't have any injuries when stretching so it might depend. I held stretches for 10 minutes at a time. I'm a gymnast and was still told the time was only 30 seconds max. After not stretching for about 2 years plus I'm still very flexible and can do splits. But it may be excessive. So don't go crazy like I did.
