Benni is such a sexy lad.
>>
>>41894149
Not confident enough to show video of my shit lifts, but are these decent?

120 kg /264 lbs bench
190 kg / 418 lbs squat
235 kg / 518 lbs deadlift
78 kg / 171 lbs bodyweight

Been doing powerlifting 3 years, with some bodybuilding exercises on the side, but i do not know if my progress has been good.
>>
>>41894204

Height?
>>
>>41894204
Cut down to 74kg and you could respectably compete. I mean don't expect to place at nationals unless you're from some irrelevant country, but those are definitely nice numbers for that weight.
>>
>>41894204
A 1200 total ain't too bad at your bw. Almost a 380 wilks if you got that in comp.
>>
>>41894318
And if he cut down to 74kg his wilks would be 392. Didn't Isley go to worlds with a sub 400 wilks?

As long as you are a manlet that isn't too bad. You're between two classes though, you should pick one and stay at around that weight if you want to really compete.
>>

Id say 78 is low enough for him to water cut down to 74 pretty easy lad
>>
>>41894282
H-Hey!
I'm aiming for a gold medal and/or a national record in my class. Junior 74 kg

The national records are currently 140 kg bench, 200 kg squat, 245 kg dead, 545.5 kg total. My best squat being 190, deadlift being 235, and total being 545, i think i might be able to pull it off, if not i'll come back to this board and cry about it.
>>
>>41894412

>>
>>41894412

You live in Belgium, or some other estrogenic country?
Not trying to shit on you since it'd be cool for one of the spergs here to medal, but it's equally revolting that some dude training for 3 years can have national records within his reach.

Norway.
For some weird reason, this nation produces monsters in the female classic and equipped department + equipped male department, but anyone under 83 classic is virtually unnoticeble in the powerlifting scene
>>
>>41894339
Yes. Junior world's though. Unless you also want to use that against his EQ bench comp too.
>>
I renew my question.

I have read convo of two advanced powerlifters speaking about not dling more than once every two or three weeks (conv or sumo). Rather than that do RDLs, rows, shrugs, pullups - all assistance stuff for them. Like you build your RDLs and check conventional on pr day
>>
>>41894526
is your question whether you should do that to? usually advanced lifters do low freq programs because at the weight they lift its really taxing. doesnt really apply to bby weight lifters
>>
>>41894502
How old are you, and are you in a club?
>>
>>41894572

yea but my problem is, I can squat all I want and I wont be taxed and I can dl 1x a week hard and im like fuck me i want to die next die so tired

mfw not build to deadlift
>>
>>41894613
I kind of feel the same, but when it comes down to it our problem is caused by under recovery and just not trying hard enough t b h

Im 100kg 5ft11 20%bf, how can i cut without losing my gains?
>>
>>41894777
Keep training.
Reduce calorie intake.
Adjust training volume if you aren't recovering.
>>
>>41894777
cut 5kg over 2-2.5 months, then stay at maintenance for 1.5-2 months, then diet down another 5kg over 2-2.5 months. the trick is to break from your diet before it starts heavily affecting your recovery ability, but without regressing. the recomp phases are there to let you recover entirely and possibly make a little strength progress. once you're down to 12-13%, stay at maintenance until you're ready to lean bulk

Best variations for raw lifters?
Should I just use the variations from RTS generalised intermediate and project momentum?
>>
>>41897055
Double pause deadlifts are best deadlift variation by far.
>>
>>41897100
You mean deficit deadlifts
>>
>>41897055

The best variations are the ones that target your weaknesses.

I think for most people, it's going to be:
- paused deadlifts to help off the floor and maintaining form
- front squats for helping to stay upright and maintain posture
- some sort of bench variation focusing on the movement off the chest (spoto press, pin presses, etc.)

But, again, if your weaknesses are in a different spot, then those won't do much for you.

THEY HAVE BLOCKS FOR MANLETS
this is amazing
you can't make this shit up
>>
>>41899116
Wait, is that legal? Wouldn't that make lift for manlets much easier?
>>
>>41899116
You didn't know?
Lifters can request blocks. Midgets like Bakkelund and Fedosienko use them because else they can barely reach the ground, some taller lifters sometimes use them if they train on lower benches and want to replicate that in competition.
>>
>>41899127

If Im able to go to the gym extremely irregularly. Once a week or less often and my core of physical activity is bodyweight shit, how should I approach plg training? I was thinking about simple doing squats, diddlys, ohp, bench and rows everytime I happen to drop by a gym but then again that a fuckload for a beginner probably?
>>
>>41899248
Me in about 3 years.
>>
>>41899265
If you have limited time in the gym and want to do powerlifting, you MUST focus on the squat, bench and deadlift. Press and rows are fine, but only secondary. Rows might not even be 100% necessary if you do a ton of pullups on your bodyweight training.

The s/b/d once a week or less should be extremely high volume in a single session, since you can't spread the volume out over the week.
E.g. 4 working sets of squats followed by an amrap, 5 sets of bench + amrap, 3 sets of dl + amrap. Just a random example, numbers aren't important, just trying to convey the concept.
>>
>>41899109
Probably dropped because he is never beating gibbs or haack
>>
>>41899316
But in the 83kg he might end 2nd or 3rd, in this class he'll end 4th to 6th.

Can I get a form check? I posted my 315 squat last week and was told mostly to keep bar steady, go lower on my squats, keep head neutral, and I think a few people even recommended I get some shoes. I know it's not the best angle because you can't see the full movement but any advice for these squats? I am using the adipower shoes now as well. They are pretty comfy but squatting in them feels so much different. I'm not sure if that's good or bad. I feel like I'm leaning more forward in them and they are harder to move feet around for minor adjustments. Squatting just feels different in them and I'm not sure if it's something I will get used to or if my form improved/got worse?

>>
>>41899492
I had tendonitis when I first started lifting in my triceps/elbow area from benching too much and cutting too fast. I basically just took some tylenol and laid off the bench for 2-3 weeks. Shit sucks but you don't wanna fuck up your shit for even longer.

I'm curious. What was your bench before and after the program? I'm trying to find it atm because I'm sitting around 255 for reps and highest I've been is 275 for reps. Would love to hit 3 plates.
>>
>>41899503

>>
>>41899577
In a nutshell if you don't hit the required number of reps in the PR testing days, you'll still get around +6 to +10lbs on your 1RM on a monthly basis.

My presses are weak as hell so that's what I did, my monrhly 1RM went up steadily by those smaller numbers. Please keep in mind that I'm not a competitive PLer so this way of progress is fine for me.

Women's 72kg coming up.
Later today is Men's 83kg i.e. people fighting for 2nd place behind Gibbs. Not sure when exactly. Timetable says 18:00 Minsk time but the timetable is way off already, women 72 was supposed to start over an hour ago already.
>>
>>41899682
Alright, thanks. Who is Gibbs? /plg/ affiliated?
>>
>>41899063
what did /ourtwinklad/ hit? also pretty shitty that he dropped a weight class. whats the point of competing if your putting up a smaller total
>>
>>41899736
point of competing is to win, total doesn't matter.
>>
>>41899752
isnt he less competitive in his new class tho? going from being a 200kg+ bencher to a ~180kg is shitty even if you win anyway
>>
>>41899693
No, no /plg/ affiliation. The only international tier lifters linked in some form to /plg/ are Bodorio, Isley, Virtus, Kbooey and wilksguy, but none of them are close to the top spots. Gibbs is a lifter from New Zealand with a lot of potential but so far he hasn't been able to bring his best to important meets, always performing much worse than his best gym lifts e.g. benching 205kg when he does a double with 210 in the gym, squatting 277.5kg at last year's worlds when he hit 300 in the gym before. Last year he got second place after John Haack in an intense battle, this year Haack isn't competing so Gibbs is easily gonna take first place.

>>41899736
Scoreboard already shows women's and scoresheet hasn't been updated yet. I thought he hit around 235/190/265? He ended 4th or 5th iirc.

What is going on, i began eating at 2500 kcal a day and slowly been upping to 3100kcal.

I have gained no weight since upping, and lost no weight either can your metabolism adapt to food increase?

I am aiming to recomp at the moment but im suprised i am not getting fat on this amount of calories, usually i gain weight very easily.

This has been over a 3 month period, i am 98-100kg.
>>
>>41899949
weight gain/loss isnt linear my friend. You'll be suprised to see that one day you might gain a lot of weight out of no where
>>
>>41899949
yes, your metabolism can adapt to food intake increases and decreases

this is caused primarily by something called NEAT (non exercise activity thermogenesis), you can look this up for further details

essentially, if you have notice that adding/subtracting calories results in less weight gain/loss than expected, this is probably why (unless you suck at tracking your calories)
>>
>>41899975
>>41899975

If anything i am eating more, i eat 3000kcal counted then i have a snack or eat fruit on top.

I have a very different weekly activity too, i work 12 hour shifts some times 5 in a week and sometimes have 7+ days of at a time i wonder if that plays a role in it since its not consistent.

Thanks for help btw x

r8 my lifts /fit/

Bodyweight 59kg/130lbs (I'm actually competing tomorrow so I'll be down to 58.8 then)

Squat 120kg/264lbs
Bench 100kg/225lbs
Dead 170kg/374lbs

This is all unequipped btw, my lifts obviously go up with gear, and yes I'm a pretty hardcore manlet. I'm not a hungry skeleton, just short.

My only gripe is the insane arches allowing literally 1 inch rom. Normal arching is fine, but those very bigest ones, they're just stupid.

I guess lifting in general disadvantages long people, but long people are still the strongest so there's more to it.

I assume youre referencing to the SHW's

height is a disadvantage yes, but you can overcome it by gaining weight. Besides that the best arent really that tall tb h. Ray williams is 5'11, kiril is 6'2. Even eddie is 6'2. Pretty short compared to their competitiors

Not really powerlifting but I think you guys could give me some pointers

>be 74 inches tall
>femurs are 23 inches long (around 31% of my total height)
>I cant squat for shit
>Either feel like I will fall backwards
>Lean forward to compensate for falling backwards

What the fuck can I do so I can squat with some semblance of meaning? Every time I workout squats my muscles never feel fatigued because my issues always result from from problems.
>>
>>41900899
Look up layne norton or krystoph weirzbicki both have super long femurs and squat like pancakes.
>>
>>41900885
i wonder wtf that is tooo
>>
>>41900899
1. lower the weight
2. put weight on midfoot and not on heels
3. break at the knees first
4. stop doing semi goodmornings, squat relatively upright
5. watch this vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrwiddA_8CQ
>>41900905
terrible advice those guys do goodmornings plus layne norton got several herniated discs because of it. Semi goodmornings wont give him developed quads
>>
>>41900899
Either
1) lots of torso lean, get a really strong posterior chain
Or
2) lots of forward knee travel to keep torso more vertical, get super strong imbalanced quads and keep knees forward when coming out of the hole

Both styles work
>>
>>41900938
>imbalanced quads
not an issue if he does regular deadlifts
>>
>>41900957
I mean: get your quads so strong that even if your body wants to shift the weight to your posterior chain (which is usually the stronger muscle groups), you can still keep your knees forward and grind through your sticking point with primarily your quads. For people with longer femurs, this is harder than it sounds

>>
>>41900917
I do all of these problems even with just the bar. My top 3 fuckups are

>leaning forward
>right heel coming off the ground
>right knee moving inward

I have had no injury to my right knee or ankle its just something I do because I will fall backwards if I dont.
>>
>>41901038
its because you put the weight on your heels at first and as you go down you start leaning more forward which shifts the weight towards your toes

Its a very common problem. What you need to do is drop the weight stay on midfoot through the entire motion and stop leaning forward. Basicly watch that vid I linked it covers everything

Don't Norwegians often pronounce "g" like "j"? At least according to Duolingo, e.g. "hyggelig" is pronounced "hugeli-j" (I seperate the i and j to avoid confusion because in my language "ij" is a seperate sound)

is 93kg the best class to watch?
>>
>>41901264
>"g" like "j"
Yes, often, but it's very dependent on the person's dialect. And since we also have "bokmål" and "nynorsk" (former based on Danish, latter based on a plethora of dialects in the 19th century; Ivar Aasen made it), where bokmål is mostly g and nynorsk is motsly j (in some words at least, like ferry (ferge, ferje)), it really depends on the person.

I don't think Norwegians pronounce "hyggelig" as "hyggeli-j", but straight-forward "hyggeli".

Dutch?

>>
>>41901290
No, 105 will be the best to watch
Biscuit v Screamer v Blessings v Bryce
>>
>>41901264

To add to my statement, us norwegians don't know what vowel reduction is, so in the case of "hyggelig" we think og the last G as not being pronounced rather than it being reduced.
>>
>>41901288
are you sure it's the same co.?
they dont have S/XL etc sizes. you give them your measure in inches and build the belt around it.

>>
>>41901352
Sort of. If you finish second to last, they probably won't bother. But medalists and especially lifters breaking WRs have a much higher chance of being tested.
>>
>>41901358
Those two are very much the exception though. Average height in the 74kg class is not 5'2, even if Kjel is a midget.
>>
>>41901319
>Also: Bergen dialect sounds disgusting.
Fucking agreed.
it's too similar to Dutch with the guttural r-sound
. Stavanger too, really.
>writing systems
You're absolutely correct and I didn't consider that. There are parts of the country that speak close to nynorsk, and parts of the country that speak close to bokmål, but nynorsk and bokmål are writing systems. The Oslo-area has dialects closest to bokmål, Sunnmore is the only area close to nynorsk.

So the only place you'll find the j in "ferge" is the West and Northwest coast, and I think all other parts say g. I'm far from certain about that, tho.

>The report also suggested that many of the UCI-sanctioned doping controls were blood samples taken to test for hematocrit levels in health screenings or as part of the biological passport, and were not necessarily tested for the presence of banned substances. USADA also cited quotations from former UCI president Hein Verbruggen and current UCI president Pat McQuaid, whom both repeated the “500-600” number in references to the number of times Armstrong was tested during his career. McQuaid, however, clarified that statement in September when he confirmed that the UCI had counted the number of controls it conducted on Armstrong at 215.

So he wasn't even tested for drugs 215 times in 18 years and had to spend more than Brett Gibbs will earn in 5 lifetimes to beat them.

What are you doing now? If you are still progressing on linear progression then stick with that. If not hop on C6W/cuckols. For me C6W was not great for bench progression but lower body it's brilliant.

Floor press: should I bother? Just playing around with a broomstick I stop about 2.5-3" above my chest when my arms hit the floor. Is there really a point to them beyond lockout strength?

I don't get Mike T having Gibbs take a 22.5kg jump on the deadlift. Now if Gibbs misses 317.5 again and the Kazakh makes 327.5, Gibbs will get second place again.

HAH

>>41903292
Doubt he'll make it, but it would be a hilarious choke. I think Brett will get 317.5 on second.

Guys why is my physique look like jason blahas? Did I just fall into the powerbuilding meme?

Quick question about diddy for reps. I'm doing nuckols right now and on my 10rm, is it better/okay to reset every rep or is it better to just keep going(not tng but just not fully resetting)?

As a society we need to cut down on meat intake. I'm not against meat completely but for land usage reasons we need to cut back.
Basically I'm going 90% vegetarian but if I'm out with friends or family I'm not going to be a winy cunt about vegetarian options.
>>
>>41903439

I get that.
I'm similar in the sense that I almost entirely eat chicken and seafood. The only beef I still consume either comes from Taco Bell or Pacific Gold jerky I buy from Costco.
My gf says I'm a "reduce-itarian"

I like that. Might take it. I only ate chicken previously just because that was cheap. Beef is so expensive.
So far I've noticed I spend less on groceries than I did when I was eating meat. Other than that no real changes yet.
>>
>>41903365
You should be lowering it in roughly the same way you brought it up and shouldn't need to do a full-on redo of your setup every rep, but yes, start every rep in a proper position. Sets of ten aren't about top end strength, they're for practicing your technique and building some muscle.

I go turbo poofag mode for meat.
If I'm cooking at home then my dinners are either steamed rice or pastaroni with a can of great value chicken breast. If you drain the water out and heat it up in a pan with something it kills the canned taste, but if I'm feeling especially repulsed by canned chicken I'll throw it in the pan with some chopped ginger in addition to the sauce I would use. Ginger is overpowering enough that I never taste the canned taste.

This sounds awful senpai. I've had canned chicken once and I'll never venture there again.
Walmart has chicken breast for like $2 a lb senpai. Throw in a 5lb bag of potatoes for like $3 and there's a meal for like 2.75 each
>>
>>41903619
Definitely sounds better but my home situation won't allow it atm.
I'm living in my gf's bedroom in an apartment with 2 other girls, and I have no fridge space so I can only cook what I can eat immediately.
Soon I'll go all out with prep and leftovers once I get my new place with my gf.
