Basically whats probably happened is some sort of movement has inflamed a bursa sac in your elbow. These can swell up quite large, but if you just rest it you should be fine. I went to the doctor's and got prescribed some mild anti-inflammatory rub (voltarol emulgel).
If it continues to grow and/or becomes more painful it could be an infection - these can get pretty bad. If not an infection and it continues to grow, then it can even be caused by some tiny bone fragment sticking out and inflaming it.

Addendum: I still lifted with the problem, I just made sure to apply the anti-inflamatory before the workout and after my post workout shower.
My dad had it once but was a retard and just left it even though it grew FUCKHUGE. They had to cut into his arm and drain it.
