Redpill me on yoga

It's not actually a workout. It's fine to help your flexibility, and it does actually help you in real life, just not in terms of being able to lift heavy things.

having flexible legs can help squats. When I started lifting I never stretched because I thought it was a waste of time but after some research and a re read of the sticky I decided to start stretching. a month later I noticed squats felt much better to do. Maybe placebo / confirmation bias but eh, pretty sure it's because I'm more flexible now. Yoga will definitely help, if not yoga, atleast do traditional stretching. Spend 5 minutes and do it in the morning.
Yoga is the science of the East, as science is the yoga of the West.
Some variants of "yoga" are that, stretching exercises for better health and fitness, other kinds of yoga are actually advanced meditation techniques that with enough practice will mindfuck your brain as much as an LSD trip. Look up pranayama.
Of course this suffers from the same problem martial arts do. It's obscure and there are so many charlatans, so as well as you can end in a McDojo when looking for a martial art you can find yourself in a McYoga where everything is just stretching exercises for old ladies.
I knew a yoga expert that moved to India to get even more training and she got pregnant and lived in a hut. Not sure what's she's up to now.
