you do realize that not even powerlifters only train with 5 reps or less, right?
even dedicated powerlifting routines like Sheiko have you occasionally doing bench pyramids with higher reps and higher rep accessory work (even though the bulk of the work is like 2-3-4 rep sets)

not really, no
if you are training for hypertrophy correctly (big compound focus, just with slightly higher rep ranges and more volume especially from accessory work) you will be plenty strong anyway to the point where it won't make much of a difference
it's not all 1 rep maxes or all cable flyes, this is just some weird /fit/ false dichotomy
