So I went to real weightlifting gym where only oly lifters train and they tought me how to clean, snatch and said Im welcome to came anytime I want and I have potential. I live 2h ride from them tought, so I crash only on weekends and stay there saturday-sunday.

Now best routine to mix up powerlifting with weightlifting? I could squat wendler style with more squatting template so 5 squat session per week but they're all light
>>
I am currently working on increasing my weak bench (67 kg) on GreyskullLP. I can lift the weight off my chest with no problems, but then it gets stuck half way, and no matter how hard I push, its stuck.
And if the bar passes that middle point, then I can lock it up easily.
That is without a spotter of course.

What does this specific weakness mean, and how can I surpass it ?
>>
>>41838950
Replace deadlift with oly movements? Isn't it just that easy?
>>
>>41838891
Intermediates can do well on conjugate periodization. It is basically DUP with a lot of exercise variation (still sufficient specificity) and relatively high volume per session (with room to increase it further).

If you like the look of it, go ahead and try it.

Im doing typical deadlift only once a week like TM said and I have progress on it anyway, on other day I do snatch grip deadlift which is good

it isnt that easy, as you got partial movements etc. There was no main coach on this weekend beacuse hes in other country atm, and they said to me that I have to do for like month and a half stuff programed by myself, and when he comes he will make routine for me. They want me to start even if Im weak same as in powerlifting

Also, let's say my work weight for today is 70 kg. (Empty bar is 10 kg), at 3x5+

How many sets and reps of warmups should I use, and at what weights ?

I am asking because I think I am doing too many warmup sets, making myself tired by my work sets.
>>
>>41838991
Woo finally. thanks
>>
>>41838951
Generally, just push harder off the chest. You should incorporate some assistance work in your program as well, such as dips or close-grip benching.
>warmups
Think I'd do 2-3x10 with the bar, 1x5-10 with 40kgs, and 1x5 with 60.

>The bench session is the worst part of the competition

What a fucking surprise. Maybe it's just a shit lift for wankers (hashtag #ShitLift4Wankers) and we'd all be better off if it were replaced with a standing press
>>
>>41840017
We'd be better off if you were replaced by standing press.
>>
>>41840017
it should be replaced with bouncing 275 lb deadlifts on a carpet for reps
>>
>>41840017
Strict press, no lean back what so ever and no bouncing and I'd agree. Could also just ban arching in the bench so we wouldn't have to redefine the entire sport.
>>
>>41840102
there should be a fourth spotter who keeps his hand wedged between your lower back and the bench and screams no lift if contact is broken
>>
>>41840102
I don't see the advantage of strict press over press.

And banning arching in bench is completely impracticable, no way to create a ruleset for that.
>>
>>41840121
>>41840124
Of course it isn't possible to ban regular arching that even a 90yr old man can do, but what about chick-arches? Must be some way to define that and ban that specifically.

I just think it is ridiculous when you can lay down on the floor and bench your The Press. But it allows for more wieght so allowing lean back would probably be better in terms of creating competition.

For those of you bitching about the bench press in powerlifting, it is an absurd lifts with the way some people cheat the range of motion

Just more reason why powerlifting shouldn't be considered a sport

It's a hobby that's supposed to be a pissing contest between some chubby strong guys, not some Asian Acrobat who belly button fucks the bar

Quit taking this shit so seriously and you might get stronger instead of just looking Stronger by cheating the lift
>>
While we're on the topic, I think there should be a maximum height allowed in handball and volleyball, maximum stride in sprints, minimum weight in marathons, strict jumps with no lying-back-technique, no running jumps, no more brushes in curling, no glasses or lenses in range shooting, and many more.

>>41840317
>but just in time for a shady blowjob.jpg
>>
>>41840367

the most important one you listed t b h. literally ruins the sport. if you cant overcome the friction of the ground yourself. you. cant. curl. it

we should atleast have brush and non-brush federations to separate the real athletes from the cheaters

Can someone post the wheel of fortune where it's obvious it's supposed to say "EAT MORE"?
>>
bench press already makes up only ~20% of a persons total. its already the least important lift in competition. most people can strict press ~60% of their bench press. if you replaced bench with the press, its contribution to your total would be so insignificant, literally no one would care about it

press fags btfo
>>
>>41840527

thats why we should do power cleans

as any athlethic person should be able to power clean more than bench

bench btfo

even movement says "power" clean and bench press isnt named bench "power"
>>
>>41840527
Bench and press then? Would give a little more balance. Not that it matters, the only thing that matters is fucking chinks cheating, rules should simply be changed.
>>
>>41840551

>chinks cheating

lmao either you are a liftlet or a manlet beacuse chinks dont compete in any important weight class
>>
>>41840544
>as any athlethic person should be able to power clean more than bench
not true

bench record is 325kg
best squat clean ever done is around 270kg, do the powerclean would be less than this
>>
>>41840544
bringing up the name is semantics. everyone knows powerlifting has nothing to do with actual power development and is about maximal strength. its just named wrong. powerclean would just make PL discount OLY instead of being its own thing. it would also make the >sport even more disproportionately lower body. its also a gay lift for fags
>>

Anyone start out with highbar and tried moving to lowbar?

I know a lot of elite tier powerlifters hold records with highbar and I feel much more comfortable doing it too, but due to a series of injuries in the past I think that lowbar will be more viable.

Currently my hamstrings are pretty weak and I'm playing around with different stances and grip widths, but a lot of my cues from highbar seem to persist (mainly my upright torso).

Anyways I was wondering what are some good cues to internalize on lowbar?

You're going to get more forward lean simply because you need to lean forward to maintain the center of balance. However hips should never shoot back, regardless of bar position. Knees should also always be cued out regardless of bar position.

Like Norsefat, I haven't seen much empirical evidence for free markets being better than regulated markets. For individuals with a good start in life (wealthy parents, fairly smart), right-leaning societies should lead to a better life, but I see society on average benefiting more from leaning to the left.

I somewhat agree with your post in the previous thread, tho. The post where you made it clear that you are pro-Keynesian economics.

Hey bro I am the guy who asked previously about my bench press being stuck half through.

So I just returned from the gym when I had a 70 kg work weight, 3x5+

All sets were done with a spotter because this is the first time I lift this weight.

My question: Is using a spotter a valid way to improve my bench ? I felt sets were relatively easy, which means the spotter was contributing a lot.

Thing is, without a spotter I wouldn't have completed the work sets of today.

Btw, I am finding Greyskull LP to be a great program. I just add a rowing movement and a bicep curl movement, and I leave the gym really "pumped up"
>>
>>41841826
>70 kg
pls be for 10 reps, after having done 2 sets previously
>>
>>41841826
Did the spotter physically help you or mentally help you?
Nothing wrong with having a spotter help you unrack and keep watch in case you fail, but you need to learn how to unrack yourself and how to do the roll of shame.
>>
>>41841932
Not him, but a friend of mine I am traching to lift refused to bench without a spotter, even with babyweights (30kg). I just couldn't convince him so when he actually failed I just refused to help him so he would see the value of roll of shaming first hand. Got a lot of ugly stares from the other people in the gym lol
>>
Today there was a fat short middle aged man in my gym.

After I saw him wearing shorts, now I understand what they mean when they say calves are 90% genetic.

He had the biggest, most defined calves I have ever seen. All he did in the gym was walk on an elliptical and stand on a machine that vibrates to "burn fat" so don't tell me he trained for these calves..

>>41841932
He had his hands around the bar since it was unracked until re-racking.
I felt him pulling a little.
When I asked, he said he only helped me in the last rep.

I must say having a spotter helped psychologically, alot.
>>
>>41841974
Calf size is all genetic.
>>
>>41841191

>>
>>41841956
Kekd. He should be glad he learned it at 30kgs and not heavier.
>>41841974
I wouldn't train that way. You're mentally screwing yourself over, imho.
>>
>>41842061
What is the correct way then ? Tell the guy to intervene only when I fail ?

So I've been working on my deadlift past few weeks by upping the volume, doing 5x6 and increasing the weight 5kg each time, but I only managed 4 sets with 200kg this week so it's clear that progress is slowing down. Should I start increasing in increments of 2.5kg instead? I'm not sure how to adjust my sets and reps accordingly to keep building up my strength. Anyone have some advice?

Smaller increments is always advisable when you start to slow down, generally increasing volume is the key, unless you're fatigued.

Try adding a separate day and lowering the per day volume slightly to avoid complete fatigue in each given day.

Is this normal when bulking and should I just not worry about it? To go from 3x3 to 3x2 because I failed the weight is a reduction of 30% of the volume does that really matter at this stage?

I don't have enough recovery capabilites to do SS.
Current lifts:
squat 110kilo
deadlift 125kilo
bench 67kilo
ohp 50kilo
power clean 60 kilo

I need to change over to a routine that is easier on the nervous system as this is to much for it. Does anyone have any ideas?
Either that or i have do decrease the training to 2 days a week but i don't want to do that i need the training. Its just squats and deads wear me the fuck out.

I am thinking of switching to a routine that is easier on the nervous system until i clear up some things that are causing me stress and lack of sleep and then maybe going back and completing SS and after that jumping on to Texas method if my recovery capabilities goes back when things are taken care of.

Any suggestions?

Because depression, anxiety, bad sleeping spot. Trying to find another living place that is better but so far no luck.

I just don't know what to do. Working on fixing my life and all and fitness has been a cornerstone of it. I can't stop working out that just makes me depressed and shitty, but now this lack of sleep and lifting heavy destroys me. I heard different type of training its not so heavy on the nervous system and don't require that much recovery like doing heavy compunds do.

correct me if I'm wrong since I'm kindof ignorant about technocracy but isnt that literally just

>haha Im the best engineer so I'm gonna run the government

if so that's dumb

Meritocracy holds the inherent benefit of allowing those with the perceived best skill in a respective government related field to run the government

think politiburo I guess

and autocracy in practice has been plagued with dictatorships(which I absolutely oppose), monarchies(which I absolutely oppose) and incompetency in the form of nepotism

an actual meritocratic governing body can avoid the problem of dictatorships that centralize all power into one person who can wind up being a retard and acting in anger or foolishness or whatnot and destroy a nation while a group of people have balances to each other to not let one person ruin the country, and their ability to choose their successors allows the vision of the governing party to continue onward indefinately and not be at the mercy of polls

how are these two different

those with the best experience in a field are in power

I'm not too full of knowledge on the subjects either, but it's more like specialists within fields get to me ministers of the relevant departments. So the Minister of Finance is required to have both extensive education and work experience within finance (proven competence) to be the minister. Makes sense to me, because our current Minister of Health and Care Services has studied law (one year), hotel management (two years), has only four years of practical work experience from various positions at a small hotel, and seems like an absolute idiot.

I think you have too much faith in the rationality of people, and especially the rationality of people in power. Every country's leaders prove they work primarily for themselves and their friends, and secondary for just enough people to still be in power.
>>41846706
I think the bottom is primarily specialised knowledge and experience and the top is general (and high degree of) competence in e.g. leadership. Not sure I made sense here.

I'm still debating with myself (ie why my manifesto is far from complete) whether it would be better to have specialized departments like you said or to have basically what amounts to shining example posterboys of the party with high levels of knowledge in the tenants of the party

cause I could forsee for example the department of education opposing the department of defense over funding issues and this leading to deadlock while a more generalized group of individuals with similar goals and mindsets could much easier come to agreement which satisfies both fields to the best degree

but at the same time you have to ask yourself "well im either going to need to find the most intelligent superhumans in my country who know literally everything or there is going to have to be some degree of specialization which could lead to some conflicts in decision making"

manifestos are an individuals life work in my opinion so I will have a long time to think this over but I lean more twoards the general knowledge seeing as there will be less conflicts of interests that way

if you deny the human influence on the changing climate you are an idiot

if you think there is anything we can do about it right now other than increase our research into renewable energy to make it ACTUALLY VIABLE IN THE LARGE SCALE you are also an idiot

solar and wind in their current forms and terribly expensive per kilowatt hour in reference to coal or natural gas, give it 10 or 20 years and we probably will have wide scale viable renewable energy that is more efficient than fossile fuels

but for now that's not the case, not only startup costs but its literally more expensive per kilowatt hour to use a solar array, plus power companies have problems distributing it consistently due to the whole you know, cloud=decreased output meme

personally I like nuclear power but people are little crybabies about it

tldr, climate change is real but there are no models that predict we can cause run-away climate change and there isnt really anything we can do about it right now so its not a big deal

Wew I guess those roids really did make you a mong, that graph doesnt even talk about carbon.

Just because the earth warms and cools on its own doesn't mean we aren't affecting it at a drastic rate. It's not even a question of whether you belive it or not it makes sense in terms of energy security to move away from depleting resources.

And before people start raving about nuclear, it's useless for anything other than base load and even then it's more expensive that renewable alternatives.
>>
>>41846873

>>41846875
I have considered who will profit on both sides, and what the consequences are depending on which side is right. Have you? Have you heard about the oil companies themselves hiding their knowledge of climate change since the 90s?
97% of climate scientists agree that it is almost completely certain that change is caused by man-made pollution, so consider for a moment what is easier/more logical: paying off 3% to argue 97%, or pay 97% to spout and craft meticulous reports and models to cash in on taxes?
I'm starting to feel stupid for not realising you're giving the bait just enough effort to be credible, now.
>>
>>41846960
>solar and wind in their current forms and terribly expensive per kilowatt hour in reference to coal or natural gas, give it 10 or 20 years and we probably will have wide scale viable renewable energy that is more efficient than fossil fuels

Stop living in a decade in the past. Right now utility scale solar and wind are competitive with natural gas. Also building them on a utility scale avoids issues with grid stability. The "muh clouds" argument is a meme. With current weather forecasting and historical data you have a highly reliable 5-7 day outlook for weather and therefore production. This can be fed to a conventional fuel plant operating in tandem with the renewable utility to adjust output.

Coal isn't price competitive anymore. Today the cheapest energy would be a natural gas plant supplemented by wind or solar, depending on what works with your geography.
>>
>>41847017
Natural gas plus wind work well together, since gas has a fast ramp up time you can run them side by side. Use the wind when there is wind and use the gas when their isn't.
>>
>>41846960
>there isnt really anything we can do about it right now so its not a big deal

What a stupid line of thinking. Global warming has the potential to crash crop production and displace over a third of the worlds population. That's a huge fucking deal. The fact that we won't be able to stop warming doesn't make the consequences of it any less severe.
>>
>>41847029
That's basically the best way to run energy right now. Your utility uses a forecast to say "we're going to provide x amount of energy at y time of day" and your natural gas plant ramps up or down around that. It also avoids the cost and logistics of energy storage that you get into for moving entirely to renewables.

>>
>>41847087
You're talking about capacity factor, which accounts for how many hours of the day are actually used for generation. That is taken into account for the image I posted. You can read the whole study here:

https://www.lazard.com/media/438038/levelized-cost-of-energy-v100.pdf

Coal power is assumed to have a 93% capacity factor, gas combined cycle has an 80% capacity factor, wind has a 55% capacity factor and utility solar has a 30% capacity factor.
>>
>>41846879
Conflict of interest in e.g. funding is what scares me about technocracy, but I don't think it can be avoided in any system. Though I'll admit the problem of undervaluing diminishes with meritocracy, I also think honesty and realism is integral to both meritocracy and technocracy so as to avoid collective undervaluing of certain departments (you can for example find instances where today's parties completely disregard certain political subjects). A fundamental prerequisite to both systems is to rely mostly on objectivity rather than subjectivity, which should also diminish interest conflicts.

I think a combination similar to what we have today is best, i.e. remove incompetent people (the Minister of Health, as I mentioned) for generally competent people, who make decisions based on professionals' research reports. Doesn't remove the bias, but it is a huge step forward at least.

Nice, faceguy.
Fact of the matter is legislation like Paris deal cost Americans trillions of dollars and will have little- to no appreciable impact on global warming ("climate change" if you're an in-the-loop numale leftist). That is not how America wins. Also, do you think manufacturing is done more efficiently and cleaner here or in a shit hole third world country? Have you considered the cost of creating "sustainable energy" sources? Chemicals involved in that are horrendous and far more damaging than the scary "carbon" monster that people freak the fuck out again.

nuclear power has a capacity value of 90% as published by the EIA while solar has a CV of fucking 25% and wind has a CV of 41%

>>41847017
as according to the EIA in their 2016 report, its projected that by 2022 which is 5 more years of research solar power or wind power will only be price competetive with advanced combined cycle natural gas methods of generation after subsidies of around 20% each, paired with the fact that the CV values are less than half and the capital requirements for wind are over 2 times greater and solar would be almost 4 times greater

by 2040 however they are projected to be just about price cometetive with ACC natural gas without subsidy

they wont give any projections on coal cause they are gay and pretend trump wont liberate the coal industry

tldr, even by 2022 it will still need 20% subsidy to function as good as existing technology which doesn't need subsidy and government has no place spending money on a literal waste when other options are availiable

I wish I could sit down witchu and have a discussion bout dat dere climate change

It's an interesting topic, especially when you get into the mechanics of why people disagree or agree with it. I have very mixed feelings on the paris accord, but you're not incorrect when you say it arbitrarily cost americans alot of money. Unfortunately, the amount and the reasoning wasn't completely bogus; it's just that it doesn't make good PR. Obama went in on the deal because it was easy, no repercussion good PR - Trump pulled us out of for the same reason. Another testament to the fact that discussion of climate change doesn't actually matter, it's the culture war and polarization that drives most discourse on it currently.
>>41847245

>Many wind projects would be economic without the tax credits

From that report wind is already competitive and will be more competitive with tax credits. Wind is dirt cheap right now.

>nuclear power has a capacity value of 90% as published by the EIA while solar has a CV of fucking 25% and wind has a CV of 41%

Capacity factor is irrelevant unless you're trying to rely entirely on that one source, which no one is suggesting because that's retarded. Nuclear right now is a terrible option for a few reasons. Mainly it's fucking expensive. Pro nuclear people always oversell the product and underestimate costs. D&E costs alone balloon for nuclear projects. Nuclear projects have a reputation of costing 2-4x more than promised. They also take a decade or so to actually build a plant, and the capital cost is about 10x the capex for a natural gas plant. It's very difficult to look at nuclear from a financial standpoint and decide that's the best option over everything else on the market. Natural gas or natural gas + renewables is much more competitive right now.

It's an incorrect line of thinking to look at the Paris agreement and say "that's it". The point of the Paris agreement was to bind 140+ nations into a climate agreement and use that as a stepping stone for future action. The point of the Paris agreement was to get everyone to sit at the same table.
>>
>>41847209
>That is not how America wins

Talk about seeing the forest for the trees. Global warming will displace billions, creating the greatest refugee crisis ever seen. It will crash crop production, spread disease and work to unravel the environmental status quo that has existed for the entirety of human history. But hey, at least the American economy didn't have to take a hit to curb the warming effects.

also your fear mongering meme doomsday scenario is also triggering

Not that guy but it would be totally reasonable to be 90% renewable/nuclear generation by 2050 without electricity prices increasing more than they already are.

Most of those coal plants are passed there used by date and need to decommissioned / replaced with will cost money anyway.
