I have a question that might just equate to me being stupid, but I'm pretty sure its not.
If lifting weights breaks down your muscles, and protein + calorie surplus is the only way to build them back stronger than before, then why is lifting weights recommended while on a calorie deficit? Surely this would break down your muscles, and then the lack of calories means they can't be built stronger. Wouldn't this cause skinnyfat?
That's why you bulk to build muscle while on a surplus THEN cut and eat less

if you dont lift at all while cutting u will lose more muscle.
if you lift while on caloric deficit you will still lose muscle just not as much as if you didnt lift at all.
