I wonder how long can it take to break 20 mins? I started running 5 times a week and taking it more seriously, I don't know much about running so I wanna know if it's gonna take 6 months, a year, 2 years? How fast is progression i nrunning?
I'm 25 years old, 180cm, 75kg

>running 5 times a week
Fucking hell. And it looks like you could do that in two weeks if you just ran faster and maybe went down to 3 times a week.
But running 5k in 20 minutes is meaningless. Start going for 10k.

sub40 10k is gonna be my next goal. For now I enjoy getting pr's at my local parkrun.
you just started running and you're running 5 times a week...?

"Run a 5k" -- is that just by yourself, in training, or is that an actual race?
If the former, you might be close already, since in a race most people tend to go faster.
To answer your question it is helpful to know:
How long have you been running for?
What does your training look like?
Do you do any other sports? Core exercises?
As a rough guesstimate, 6 months of consistent training should get you there. Mix up longer runs with some speedwork and tempo runs. Don't get injured. Keep at it. Increase your weekly volume.

MILES. mileage is all their is to. If you want to take it more seriously set weekly mileage goals. Start at maybe 20 miles per week. bump it 5 miles every three weeks. So in 3 weeks you will be at 25 miles a week. Once you reach 40 miles a week finishing a 5k in 20min will be a breeze.
