Help me /fit/, what are the CHEAPEST possible food items i can get? I will be going through some tough times and i won't have a lot of money to eat.
I was thinking, pasta, rice, beans and chicken. Is there anything else I can add? I know how to cook and I don't mind eating the same thing 7 days a week.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
tuna
salt free canned tomato products like stewed tomatos or paste
Also, should I buy a Weight Gainer? I was thinking of drinking it for 1.5k calories a day then getting the rest I need on 1-2 big meals. Is it worth it?

Seconding tuna. Will get you through for a while if you can find it in bulk.
get spices. You will go a lot longer on rice and beans if you have some cayene or something to make it taste
also frozen vegetables in bulk

But tuna isnt better than chicken right? I feel like I can get twice the calories buying 10$ of chicken than on 10$ of tuna.

Be most expensive than food.
Buy oats, black beans, rice. Canned tomatoes. Maybe some canned fruit if you can afford it.
Get spices and learn how to use them too.

I wish I could eat oats, the consistency of it just kills me

>wheat bread
>frozen mixed veggies
>eggs
>olive oil
>hot sauce
Put the veggies in a pan with a little bit of olive oil, wait until they're almost cooked completely and then dump the eggs on top. Proceed to scramble. Then put 3 pieces of whole wheat bread in the toaster or oven.
Once toasted, put the bread on a plate. Cover with the veggie hash and then squirt hot sauce to taste. Feel free to substitute rice for bread but I hate soggy food and don't want to fuck with a rice cooker. You can sub the veggies with canned beans as needed as well.

Oh and buy some peanut butter or almond butter and spread it on the bread for breakfast.

Yeah, tuna isn't as cheap as it seems. Sure, it's only 80 cents a can, but you're only getting like 3oz per can. That's about $4.25 per pound of tuna. You're better off getting chicken or frozen tilapia for about $2 per pound.
I ultimately suggest looking around your local grocery store or wherever you plan to buy food. Prices will vary depending on the store and location.
You already know about oats, pasta, beans, and the cheapest of the cheap: rice. You could also look into flour and yeast to make your own bread. It's kind of time consuming, but not hard. Beyond that, just roam the produce section and see what you find.

My bro swears by it and it's cheaper/healthier than bread but I hate rice so much.

Depends if you live near the ocean. Canned sardines are my cheapest source of protein
