Is this how basic dieter deal with hunger ? Or I am on the wrong basic mindset to deal with hunger and craving.

I grew up terrified of becoming fat so I ate as little as possible through much of childhood. Now, I don't really feel hunger. Downside is, I'm skinny as hell, and have difficulty eating more than 2000 kcals per day.
