/fit/, are sled pulls safe? I broke 300lbs and am on my way to 400. I just want to be sure I'm not fucking my shit up before I hit the heavy weights. It doesn't feel particularly damaging and it looks safe enough, but I don't know, is there maybe a nerve that could be pinched or a special way to move the shoulder?

Don't jerk the rope around; feel your muscles do the work. Listen to your body, etc etc...

Keep your joints tight and stay controlled, you should be fine

The risk is a bicep tear. I just use my 1x20 DB row max x4 as a rule of thumb. Basically double the DB weight and control for horizontal force being less than vertical force needed to row. I DB row 1x20 at 120 so my max working weight for the sled pull is 480lbs.
Very important to do bicep curls as sled pulls only train the concentric which doesn't get the tendon as strong as eccentric work.
