He wasn't making fun of me or anything but I knew I didn't have perfect form because I was pushing the last couple of reps and was pretty tired but it wasn't like worse than most people doing curls near their limit.
Also I fail to see how you can hurt yourself doing curls by assisting your curl by a bit.
I was in the 8 rep range too so it's not like I was pushing my limits.

I'd guess you have your wrists at an angle, like half way to being a hammer curl, and as you lift up you then straighten your curl out. This is easily the most common incorrect way to do curls. 90% of people curl incorrectly with dumb bells.

What type of curls were you doing? Can you give us maybe a quick rundown of how your form was? Im trying to see why a dyel might get the impression you were doing it wrong
