Why is it good to take fish oil? Is it just a meme?
It's good because poor fish oil producers need money.
You can see the effects here, but there really aren't that many benefits for otherwise healthy people:

Considering how many studies have been done on it it's almost surprising that the only real effect they've found in otherwise healthy people is a reduction in triglycerides.

"Due to the opposing effects of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, a healthy diet should contain a balanced omega-6:omega-3 ratio. Human beings evolved eating a diet with a omega-6:omega-3 ratio of about 1:1. Modern Western diets exhibit omega-6:omega-3 ratios ranging between 15:1 to 17:1. Epidemiology and dietary intervention studies have concluded that while an exceptionally high omega-6:omega-3 ratio promotes the development of many chronic diseases, a reduced omega-6:omega-3 ratio can prevent or reverse these diseases."

"Healthy people".
Niga do you realise most "healthy (i.e. first world) diets are so poor they deficient in b-vitamins? One of the most abundant micronutrients?
Not because we first worlders don't eat .. we do eat .. but what we eat is entirely nutrient bankrupt.
I've been taking Cod Liver Oil because apparently it's better.

>"Healthy people".
my point is that most of the effects in the human effect matrix apply to special populations. for example it reduces depression is majorly depressed people, but not people without major depression.
I take it for the fishy steel it gives my burps, I burp at people taking up the squat rack till they leave.
