Boxing is a sport not a MA.
If you have a fistfight sure the boxing will help you but against a trained martial artist boxing isn't enough to keep the distance. A grapler can take a hit if it means he gets to close in on you and then you have nothing anymore. Add wrestling if you want to learn to fight on a sufficient level.

i do judo and bjj and ill say this

judo focuses on getting highly trained opponents to the ground, and once on the ground assumes the opponent knows nothing so they can easily beat them on the ground (judo ground game sucks)

bjj focuses on beating highly trained opponents on the ground and doesn't train many takedowns (there are a few) to a high level because they assume they can just grab onto their opponent and basically drag them down (no fancy throws). (bjj takedown game sucks)

bjj came from judo and they're both basically 2 sides to the same coin.
