If you've never done it before if can be a shock to the system even if you are in shape. My gym does 1.5hr classes of about 30-45min of hard conditioning which consists is mostly bodyweight exercises. Every kind of pushup, situp and squat variation you can think of with burpees, suicides, and other cardio exercises. The latter half of class is all technique, combos, MAYBE some light sparring, stuff like that.

I do bjj to(which I'd recommend just as much as muay thai) and it is incredibly hard on my body. I've been back at it for about 4 months now and have probably hurt myself 3 times to where I had to take a week off. Once was from overtraining and I threw out my back. Also, you will get bruises, especially if you're a pasty as I am.

- Be patient with yourself. It's like learning a new language and dance at the same time. You will fuck up all the time and that's part of learning.
- Don't be that cocky ass dude bro who "knows better". Humility is a virtue.
- Listen to your coach and the other people there. 99% of people couldn't be friendlier and happier to answer questions you have.
- STRETCH and foam roll, especially your lumbar.
- LISTEN to you god damn body. Take time to rest. Try to recognize the difference between "good" pain and "bad" pain.

I've always wondered whether this is actually good.

Like at my gym, we do everything except core conditioning for the first half, and finish off with core at the end.
Only problem is that my legs get stiff and. Lose mobility from all that cardio. Makes me less mobile.

Wouldn't it be better to train then condition as opposed to the opposite?

I was thinking of joining a Muay Thai gym. I realized that it wasn't for me though. It seemed to soft honestly. They put a lot of emphasis on being kind and not pushing anybody too hard, making sure everyone felt safe to not move too fast. They were also classes anybody could hop in at any time which leads me to believe it's not a course that builds on what you learned before but rather simple sets you can learn any time. Eventually I just decided to stick with the heavy bag available at my gym.

I think its retarded desu

I strength train on my own, and I dont go to fucking muay thai class to do fucking shitty pushups and sit ups. Most trainers have no fucking idea what fitness is, they just do shit loads of bodyweight crap. All that time could have gone into technique.
Now i don't mind conditioning, and members should be fit if they want to compete, but honestly, that is up to each person. With only 2 classes a week, everything should go towards sparring and technique, with the participants getting in shape on their own time.

I think the idea to condition yourself to be able to think and execute techniques while your body is tired. That being said can see the argument can be made for doing it the other way around.
>>
>>41724066
Yeah true.

I usually participate in the full body strength exercises then instead of cardio I jump onto the heavy bag for a bit, do some speed exercises for a few rounds then work on my technique

>>41724066
Yeah, the problem I have with this is that when I'm tired I don't fight properly. My legs get sloppy so I rely on techniques requiring less mobility, which is more risky than how I prefer to fight
