Squatting is a goddamn spiritual experience. I'm sorry that you're not based enough to appreciate it-most people aren't-but I'll try and break it down.

There is no better movement than a correctly done, heavy squat.

You're damn right it sucks. You look at all that weight on that bar. For me, that's quickly approaching double my bodyweight. IT maybe be even just the bar. Whatever is heavy to you. It's all same.

You get flashbacks to your last session. It was hell. You're developing a pathological hatred for stairs. You feel sick. You want to stop. Your legs start to even fucking shake a bit out of fear. "Girls don't even care about legs", "I could just leg press"1 you think. You feel the bitchassness rising up. But you quell that shit down. You pump yourself up. A new PR is going to be set today. The music on your iPod turns up. That song is on. You know that song. That one song that, when played during your set gives you the strength, power, focus and rage of all your ancestors. Maybe you have a certain riff, or lyric you repeat to yourself.2 Whatever. You get pumped.

You step up towards the bar. Perhaps you size it up one last time, hesitating a bit. But this motherfucking weight needs to be lifted. You position yourself under the bar, put your back on it, grip the bar and push the bar off of the rack.

Immediately you can feel all of the pressure on your back. You worry about it, but the adrenaline is starting to set in; fucks are steadily decreasing. You take about 2 steps back, take a deep breath-maybe two or more and descend. You drop low and come back up. A small battle won, there is an entire war to fight. Against death. Against fear, against bitchassness, fuckarounditis and general anxiety.

You see. No, no...You already know that the back squat is quite different from every other movement. There is no really escape from it. With the bench press, you got a spotter, or can do the roll of shame or tilt the bar. With the deadlift, you simply won't be able to lock out. And if you can't OH press something, the bar just won't travel that far. But again, the squat is different. That pressure is always there. Pressing on your back, a literally heavy load. Sometimes your upper back gets numb during that set, but you push on-one more rep, you can't let that stop you. Failure with the squat is not nearly as nice of an option. When you fail a squat, you'll feel crushed. You go down with the weight. You crumple under the bar, with your back leaned forward. Perhaps you bend even further to truly rest the bar back on the safetly bars. Maybe you don't have them and get trapped and the bottom and simply have to let it go; you have to bail, you have to let go. It feels different.

That weight when squatting isn't pressure. It's adversity. Remember that feeling. Hold it, picture it, grasp it, bottle it. That fear is you pushing yourself way you of your comfort zone. You'll get that same fear doing anything worth doing. Anything that's intimidating and challenging. When you squat you are transcending your adversity and fears. The weight is all of your doubts and fear manifested into a barbell and some weights. When you squat, you're praying. For the strength and willpower the transcend your limits, for the ability to rise and get back up.

And you do get up. And then you do it again, diving right back into your personal hellfire. You're legs are wobbly, you ass is on fire. You want to stop. You want to put the bar back, but that's not the time. Now you transcend. But all that's burning is weakness in that hellfire. If you can consistent squat heavy, then you can handle pretty much any program. There is nothing I've found will build as much discipline.

That's why I squat and think that they are so great anyway. I both loather and love them. They are a true step towards become stronger in every way. I'll never stop doing them. I'll always be doing some kind of variant or the things. But you, you can do whatever the fuck you want. I mean it. It all doesn't matter. Just lift phaggot. While you're worrying about this shit so much, faking the funk, I'm gonna keep on walking through the darkness caring my torch...and squatting.

Not just the pussy pad. He's standing on a fucking board without any safeties. I know the danger of anything happening is low when you're using submax weight but the consequences could be any thing from a snapped ankle to a snapped neck. If you wanna go atg and lack the mobility just buy some oly shoes ffs.

cliffs:
squats are hard on your mind and body
so even if they don't instantly make your physique amazing, they prepare your mind to accomplish the work that will.

Clean and Jerk is the best of all worlds. There's a barbell on the ground, and you are trying to get it over your head. Plate milestones in c+j are truly the best feeling in lifting.

I forget who I heard it from first.

If you do an honest 20rep squat program, your legs are guaranteed to blow up in size if you eat properly. And and some point, Jesus with ask to work in. God is spotting.
