Powerlifting competitions disagree with you. A sumo DL counts just as much as a conventional DL. Some people can DL more conventional, and some can DL more in sumo. It depends on your body (leg lenght vs torso/arm lenght)

Whenever I try to diddy heavy, I always get pain at hips.
It's only when I release the weight too; finish set, drop bar, stand back up and pain
I'm 6'4 so I tried widening my stance, changing feet angle, stretching and nothing works.
