If someone did a wholebody routine of nothing but 1 compound exercise each for legs chest, back and shoulders...no direct arm work...something like starting strength I guess but better balanced in terms of set numbers to avoid t-rex mode...what would they look like? Has anyone ever done something like this?

I did similar workout that was pretty much Starting Strength with overhead press. After month and a half I added curls, chin-ups and pull.ups and did that for several months until all of my core muscles were starting to develop.

I only did this since I was an Auschwitz-tier skelly who had no muscle at all, so a split-routine would not have been as effective for me as a full body in the beginning

Pic related. Note all the things would not be done on the same day, though. It would be virtually impossible to do Deadlifts, Squats, Bench, and OHP on the same day, in the same workout, and make decent linear progress.

You can do it as a beginner as your lifts are not as heavy in the beginning. I mean I, as a skelly, barely could lift the bar, so I was able to do all 4 of those exercises in the beginning
