So I decided to start doing overhead presses behind my head instead of in front. I was pressing 125 for 6-7. Made the switch as an experiment and loaded up 95 and did 5×8. I felt like I was targeting my side delts more and my back felt like it was in a safer position. Should I continue doing this or is that a major issue I'm not thinking of and I should go back to pressing in front of my head?
Behind the head OHP is a good way to blow out your rotator cuffs and never escape DYEL mode

This
Stick to traditional OHP

You are going to get fucked up eventually. Might not be today, or tomorrow, but some day those shoulders will fucking explode.

I push-press 2pl8 behind the neck and I've yet even have any kind of discomfort.

Just because you haven't hurt yourself yet, doesn't mean it won't happen. Just takes one bad muscle engagement

So like literally every other lift? For fuck's sake, I've had worse injuries curling.

>push press behind the neck
Jesus Christ seems like a great way to kill yourself

Most people's acromion are shaped/positioned in a way that will cause impingement throughout certain shoulder movements.
I don't see how it's a safer position for your back though, but whatever, if you like it you like it.

True but scapular mobility is just as important, proper serratus anterior activity and scapular abduction is key in overhead pressing and preventing impingement

Do any of you reactionary DYELs actually have any experience with BTN press or are you just parroting what some clickbait fitness article told you?
If you have no nagging pains or injuries then keep going, if you get your BTN press to 125 you'll be even stronger if you ever go back to regular ohp

Why is your acromion so puny and flaccid?
