2 questions for my lad m8 boys

Like 2 weeks ago I was diddlying about 385 for a few reps (1rm around 425 right now). Felt pretty good except last one, which i had to let go. Took my rest day off and then started to develop a cold. Did a day of squats before taking some time off. During squats I noticed i had a lot of pain in my upper shin area of left leg. tibialis anterior is the muscle that I feel a lot of pain in. Now i don't 100% remember if I got hit there by something, but there is no bruise evident.

Anyways It hurts when I squat even around a mid weight mid 200s, and even at a low weight like 135 which I did today for 5x5. Is this anyone else has felt? Could some kind of lifting cause it? I can walk normal but it seems like squats trigger it the most.

Greg says you can use them for ohp as well. If you meant doing TM for ohp, it's not great, and I would definitely recommend sticking to the lower rep ranges for PRs instead of a 5 RM. Microloading might be necessary as well, due to the fact that adding 5 lbs will be a larger percentage of your max for ohp than it would be for bench.

Expert Ohper here. Pressing over 1.5x bw. It's the easiest lift to hit a plateau so don't expect quick progress even with good diet/programming.
Anyways the most important thing is to constantly change your rep scheme, hit some max rep drop sets, and perfect your form. I don't even start pressing if the unrack felt wrong.

I'm mostly just shooting from the hip here so don't take my word as gospel but the good thing about lunges would be how little of the posterior chain it would include so they won't dig into your spinal erector's recovery time and how easy they are to quickly throw in. But they are also easy to cheat on and possible a little easier to hurt something if you go at a weird angle.

So overall if you just want a little more additional stimuli for your quads they would work. I would go with dumbbells if you care about putting even less stress on the spinal erectors and want some additional grip work.
