What's the best way to warm up for deadlifts?
Light deadlifts.

by doing progressively heavier deadlifts until you reach your working weight??

There is no universal "best" way to do anything when it comes to lifting. Warm up procedure is subjective.

I just go up in 20kg increments, and do less reps per warm up set as I get closer to my working weight.

Alright, I just heard that you should basically keep deadlifting to a minimum, in terms of number of reps.

same here. i start by with different variations like sumo, snatch grip and do a couple of 5 reps. then switch to conventional as i get heavier. anything past 70% i just do singles up until 90 at 10% increments
Warm ups are a waste of energy.
Seriously, has anyone actually tried just loading your max onto the bar and going straight in for it?
I get that most of you would scoff at the idea, but some of my best ever sets are when I just walk into the gym hyped and rip it off the floor without doing anything to warm up.
(personally I wouldn't do this with squats though, I need warm ups to get my mobility up to a good level.)

by keep it to a minimum they are most likely referring to your working sets i.e. you challenging 5RM sets. Your light warm up sets dont count towards this
