I feel ya. The slight slips of blood in your case are ok because you kinda had down time with your intake. I've had that as well, at least on two occasions, when I was late taking my pills. Not even a day late, just 5-6 hours. As far as I can tell all BC have this sort of thing as a possible side effect. Both times for me it stopped when my actual period days came at the end of ths month. They just went as normal and no blood after them.
I suppose you should contact a specialist if it continues after another period.

Prob doctor's advice will be the same as the advice you are getting here which is continue on your normal bc routine. Esp since it wasn't super heavy... when hormones change it can affect the timing and length of your period.

And to all the people who somehow seem terrified that a period is days longer... you lose such a small amount of blood even on a heavy day (like a few tablespoons!) and it is from the extra blood/fluid/lining your body made in the weeks leading up to it.

Birth control pills work in the following way;

Normally females have a certain amount of estrogen in them. About once every 28 days this level drops significantly. This causes 2 thing; their testosterone-estrogen balance gets fucked, causing them to have mood swings, they get testosterone dominant for a brief period which causes them to be horny as fuck, and finally, it causes the womb to stop its constant regeneration, causing the inner lining to be "purged". This might come alongside cramps and headaches. It starts with discolored urine, turns into "spotting" and eventually full on bleeding. Its not only blood, there is also uterus lining tissue in mens.

For some women this estrogen shit might not work properly. Polycystic ovarian syndrome is one usual suspect but it might be many things. When this is the case, women use BC pills. There are also women who use BC for the intended purpose, but really the majority use it for illnesses.

When you use BC, you artificially get the estrogen externally and keep the estrogen level high. When they stop taking the pills, the estrogen level drops and they trigger the menstruation. This is also how they use BC pills to abort early term fetuses (feti?).

When you used lower dose, you triggered a menstruation. It is normal that it takes longer because your body was used to (i.e.) 100 estrogen daily, and you gave it 50 estrogen for 1 week. Hence you get the low flow mens for an extended period. Dont worry its going to pass.

You could always try the rhythm method. My grandma swears by it (she only had 2 planned kids). I'm just too paranoid to use the rhythm method, and my cycle before BC was all over the place. Add in the endometriosis and I kind of feel like I NEED the BC at this point. I can totally see where you're going with the side effects though. Yea, this kind of scares me. I'm paranoid about that kind of this (I have pretty severe anxiety, actually). However, the pain from endometriosis was so severe, I'm willing to take that chance. I'd literally have to take 2 days off school/work because the pain was so intense. Shit would wake me up in the middle of the night too. I ended up having to have surgery when I was 18 to get rid of a huge cyst along with a partial hysterectomy.

So in other words, as long as you keep moving you'll be fine but if you are a couch potato you better consult with your doctor for blood thinners or maybe some of the older BC pills that didnt cause as much blood clots (but bloated you more)

Yeah, work a sedentary job. I used to take a lot of Ibrupofen (800mg 3x a day for 3 days, a week or two before it comes) to make my period lighter, but the blood clot stuff and new research about ibru increasing heart attack chances scares me.

I did cheerleading and martial arts when I first started BC 7 years ago. I've always had a sedentary office job, but I've never noticed any weight gain.
