I use a hex bar (55lbs) like this and load 2pl8s per side.
How far do people typically try to go and with what weight?
I dunno, we have a sled push area at my gym. I'm going to guess it's around 50 feet and I normally go there and back.

A country mile.
I use 90lb DBs and walk as far as I can. I do this 6 times.
As long as you can, if I'm at the that weight(415) I usually strap up, do 3 walks till failure.

Should I be using straps?
My legs have never failed, only my grip. I think I did about 4 stints of 25 yards each

No straps use it to work your grip too brah

I like to do three sets without straps, and then three with them.

the point of doing these static holds is to increase your grip strength and using straps defeats the purpose of this
I suppose you could work your core if you used straps... but there are better movements for that

Go for max time

Underrated
you can also do those just for trap and upper back development, and legs also i guess
if you cant hold it anymore strap the fuck up and get more gains
training grip is fast, developing muscles on your back takes much longer
