Be honest, how long did it take you to reach 1/2/3/4?

1/2/3/4 translates to 1 plate OHP, 2 plate bench, 3 plate squat, 4 plate deadlift.

A plate is 20kg/45lb.
When someone says they can bench "one plate"
that means one 20kg plate per side, plus the weight
of the bar (which is also usually 20kg).

>how long have you been lifting?
>have you hit 1/2/3/4 yet?
>if yes, how long did it take you?
>if no, where are you now?
>>
I can't actually remember the exact times for each as I've been lifting for 5 years now.

But I got 1/2/3/4 in this order, deadlift, squat ohp, bench.

Probably in all about 2 years to get there, but a lot of the first year was cutting. So its certainly doable more quickly.

Currently at 1.75/2.5/4/5 all for 5 reps, at 86kg bw.

For the first 3, about 8 months. Took me another couple months for 4pl8. Less than a year though.

Been going to the gym for almost 2 years and I'm only close to hitting /1/ and /2/ and maybe /4/. I took multiple breaks that fucked my progress. For example I took a 2 month break that brought my bench from 75kg down to 50kg. Took me almost 3 months to work back up. That's five months wasted. Also a lot of fucking around in no-routine-limbo. I'm on a proper program now though and plan on hitting 1/2/4/ in the next few months. I'll never get a 3pl8 squat because my hips and knees are fucked.

1/2/3/4 is definitely possible in a year or less if you're dedicated and don't have shit genetics like me.

7 months inconsistently with like a two month break in Jan/Feb.

at about 1/1.5/2.5/3

Bench is dogshit so I'm starting 2:1 bench to OHP ratio. 2pl8 feels so far away. Squats have been going up a lot and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to hit 3 next month sometime. Dead's I've been struggling with so may take a while longer. Hopefully I'll be repping out everything by the end of the year, after which I can focus on endurance/ cardio/ conditioning etc

you're actually wrong, you're not required to use an olympic barbell to use 20 kg pl8s. There are 16 kg and and even lighter barbell where you can stuff various pl8s, I see them sometimes used [by females and] for OHP and pendlay row since these barbells allegedly allow for a better grip (their diameter is minor)
It seems to me that >>41565702 isn't actually using a 20 kg barbell for example (but obviously it's difficult to judge from such a grainy vid)
>>
>>41565750
that's really good considering that you look kinda small in the vid - ht/wt?

also you really need to fix your benching m8, 90 kg press is on the level of a 3+ plate bench considering tri strength alone

I know brah. I have tried a lot of different methods for bringing my bench up, and it always only climbs if I start getting too fat for my liking.
I have pretty long arms, and I think this hinders bench in two ways, longer ROM obviously, and also the strain on my shoulders is larger. Might explain why it doesn't impact OHP as much as I have a narrower grip.
I'm 5'10 85kg.

jesus christ.
1 pl8 = 60, correct. 20(bar)+20(plate)*2
2 pl8s = +20(plate)*2 = +40 kg = 100 kg, not 120.
3 pl8s = +40 kg = 140 kg
4 pl8s= +40 kg = 180 kg

Anyway, if you look at >>41565578 the real intermediate goal (for a 80 kg male according to stats gathered from weightlifters in that weight range) are
60/90/120/140

First started lifting at 17, 29 now, still haven't made it.

Haven't really been trying though, mostly tried to stay lean for climbing and then was into boxing for awhile and cycling too.

1/2/3/4 at 5'10 145lbs would have been cool though. At 165 I can OHP 165, haven't flat benched in years, haven't back squated in years, I can dead 340 for 5 easy and don't really push it due to injuries so I suppose I could do 4 if I wanted.

I mean it can help, but it's obviously less important than practicing technique and conditioning.

Obviously you're not training MMA three times a week and doing a 4 day split and doing cardio, while working full time without a huge commitment and risk of overtraining.

What! A pl8 is 20kg? This whole time I thought it was 25kg as its the heaviest at my gym.

This changes a lot of things...mentally I mean for my goals.

I'm 6'1 so a few inches shorter than you guys, but I've got a shite squat as well (almost at 2pl8 for bench but just under 1½ for squat). We have bad leverages, but there's also the matter of bad technique and low strength. I'd recommend dropping a bit (which I know is depressing) and really honing your technique. For me it was simply not looking down and keeping my chest up. It might be bad "breaking" or curved bar path for you guys. Asking a seasoned lifter and recording your own sets will help too.
Just whatever you do, don't force reps with bad form. I just returned from an unplanned vacation to snap city and it was not worth it. Good luck boys :)

>>
>>41565510
You won't reach 3 plates in 3 months I'm telling you this now
>>
>>41565446
I'm at 1/1.5/2 plates and a 10/3. I don't know how I did it but I reached one plate on ohp for a 1rm before 2 plates on bench or 3 plates on squat
>>
>>41565544
In a year if you really try you'll get your deadlift to at least 3 plates
>>
>>41565446
120 ohp
160 bench
215 squat
245 deadlift
>>
>>41565525
It's time to take a look at your routine and diet, friendo
>>
>tfw shit tier lower body

OHP/Bench/Squat/Dead
150/245/270/305 x 3
>>
For those who've reached 1/2/3/4

Where do you redeem your 1 free gf coupon?
>>
>Don't have a ton of weight
>Barely enough to reach 1plate in total weight
>Do my exercises for a few months
>After three or four months, got to the point where I could just about do a 1 plate OHP
>Felt like I was still weak as fuck
>Go to /fit/ and see all these people saying 1plate OHP is hard and now I feel slightly less bad
>>
>>41571613
sorry friend, it's not 2/3/4/5
inflation is one hell of a drug
>>
>>41571560

shit muh nigga
>>

>>
How the fuck do you make progress with OHP?
Mine is so pathetic and it's never going anywhere

Is the secret auxiliary isolations?
Or microloading?
My gym only has 5lb plates as the lowest increment

>>

Increase reps. When you can do 5, keep doing 5 until you can do 8. When you get 8, load 5lb until you can only get 5 again.
>>
after around 6 months my 1rms were 60 kg for press, 85 for bench, 130 for squat and 140 for deadlift. around 73 kg bw
>>
>>41565446
didnt take long. lifting on and off for 2 years-ish but really serious the last 6-7 months. i have surpassed all those goals but i still look like shit. im fat as fuck. the 1/2/3/4 should not be a goal at all. for me the 2 plate bench was the hardest for whatever reason, i was able to unrack 2pl for ohp and get it just above my nose before reracking lol. i guess it helps to be fat. idk. have i gotten laid for lifting heavy? nope. not once lol so 1 gf is probably the hardest.

to save you some time calculating the program looks like this

warmup
bar 2x5 (optional)
0.6 1x8
0.7 1x5
0.8 1x3
0.9 1x1

work set
3-6x3 (start with 3 sets of 3 then increase by 1 set when you can do it. once you can do 6x3 increase weight and start at 3x3 again). personally i always did 6 sets regardless of how many reps i could do as i've seen better results that way.

back off set
0.8-0.85 1x10

i also did 3-4 sets of 12 reps after back off set at around 0.7
>>
>>41565446
>How long have you been lifting
Since the end of last year doing meme machines and no real schedule, about 2 months into a PPL routine

>Have you hit 1/2/3/4 yet?
40kg / 65kg / 80kg / 80kg

So no nowhere near. By the end of the year I expect to get 1/2/3 but probably not 4 plate deadlift.
>>
>>41566017
I fucking hated squats till I fixed my form. It's so satisfying now
>>
Already got to 1 plate 5x5 OHP.
Im 1,5 plates on the other lofts (kind of stalling at bench, but can still progress on squat and dl)
>>
Been lifting for 6 months

Currently at .5/1/2/3

Asymmetric as fuck
>>
>>41571767
my guess is that you're one of those skinny fags. Head to https://symmetricstrength.com/calculator/ideal_bodyweight and reach at least the minimum expected bw for a bobybuilder of your height

>>41571758
dips and weighted dips if you're skinny

wtf how am I supposed to gain this much weight? I think I will go for a sprinters body then.
>>
Wait hold on a so are these values for one rep max or?
>>
Can't remember times, but I'm assymetric as fuck when it comes to my lifts. Been lifting for 4 years though.

I started at 180 lbs 8 months ago, here were my lifts:
OHP: 95
Bench: 135
Squat: 155
Deadlift: 185

Focused on benching heavy 2x a week and missed out on squat/diddly gains due to back injury but I'm now at
OHP: 185
Bench: 285
Squat: 275
Diddly: 315
>>
>>41569605
This is me, same stats. >>41565636

23
6'1"
194 lbs

We'll make it together brah
>>
>>41571275
I actually haven't broken linear progression on deadlift yet. I just lifted again and I'm up to 85kg now. I think the next one might be the first to get difficult.

The slowest is OHP, tried 30 kg today, only managed one full set.
>>
>>41574162
Eh I was assuming it's 3x5.
>>
>>41574197
Seems alright to me desu. Your diddly is a little high compared to your squat maybe but it's easier to yank something off the ground.
>>
1.5 years lifting
At 0.75/1.75/3/4 for 5RM
Can probably do 1/2 for 1 rep
>>
I got all the lifting goals by the end of freshman year in highschool. I only started lifting the year before, but i had been doing sports all my life as a a child. Didn't get a gf until sophomore year of college.
Getting the gf was the hardest part.

lifting about 4/5 months
0.5/1/1.5/1.25
how do improve my deadlift, it is lacking even though I've been doing just heavy compounds I'm doing all 4 lifts twice a week, 5x5
>>
>>41571767
It's all anatomy breh. Lanklets with long arms have an easier time deadlifting but a harder time benching.
>>
>>41575381
with that press he could be benching 3.5

>>
>>41571714
more like 2/3.5/5/6 if you wanna be proportional
>>
>>41571758
Close Grip Bench, Heavy Arnold Presses, and Weighted Dips as accessories really helped me
Also, squeeze your ass and keep your core tight. This helped my form immensely. Make sure your arms are tucked in tight enough that your wrists are perpendicular with the ground

I probably will never unless I roid. I'm already a 5'5 manlet don't want to become a roided angry little fucker.
>>

a-are you doing deadlifts 5x5?
>>
>>41565446
5 weeks, this was the first year I've stepped foot in a Gym.
No, and I don't expect to for a long time.

0.5 / 0.75 / 0.75 / 2 (6ft, 195lbs)
>>
>squat
6-7 months, can't remember

10 months
>deadlift
1 year
>bench
Not completely sure, at least 18 months
>>
>1.5 years lifting
>bench 1rm is 80 kg, deadlift 1rm is 163 kg
this fucking lift is way too hard, how did this even become the most popular among normies
>>
>>41575810
oh shit no sorry, 2x5 at the moment
>>
>>41571747
kek. Nah, man. I'm not that heavy. My working weight for sets of 5 is approximately my BW, though. You can justly mock me for that.
>>
>>41575853
Well for the longest time I was struggling to increase my deadlift but the 2 things that broke my plateau were 1. increasing my squat and 2. changing up my form. I found that I pulled better when my legs were a little closer.
Try playing around with programming, have one week dedicated to maxing out squat and go light on deads, then swap the next week. You might just need a little more time to recover
>>
>>41570487
I hate squats with a passion. I'm always paranoid I'm doing them wrong and I barely do any weight at all. I think at this point I'll have to suck it up, record it and post it for the /fit/izens to check
>>
>>41566302
I'm the same, I can't squat for shit.
>>
>>41576218
>hate squats
You'll learn to hate them a bit less as you get better. A form check could help you out big time!
>>
>>41575920
thanks man. i'll try it
>>
I got 1/3/4 in about 9 months but 2pl8 bench took me 18 months.
