so when i'm doing squats, DL, and pendlay rows, when i point my toes out, i'm noticing that I feel more comfortable if my right foot is pointed out more than my left. However, in that position my hips and legs feel fine and in balance.

I've had issues with my hips being imbalanced, and I hope I'm not making it worse.

Does anyone else even pay that much attention to the angle they point their toes out?

Keep in mind it isn't a huge difference from my right to my left. At most double the angle.

this pic looks the exact same, except for lifting shoes compared to barefoot

Kelly advocates toes straight, so that is the ONLY way to properly squat.

Look at how much more lateral knee movement he achieves with toes out

Maybe your hip anatomy is asymmetrical and this is optimal for you. If your bone anatomy is asymmetrical, you will have strength asymmetry also, you can't fix it. Don't use any posture because it's recommended as "correct". Use the position you need for yourself.

squat thread? if someone could answer me. is squatting too low bad? I'm doing low bar and I go way past parallel and my lumbar starts going forward. I feel like that would be an optimal position for high bar and not low bar

its about 900000000% more likely that he has a tight muscle or connective tissue on one side
>>

Maybe not that much more likely but somewhat, yea, I think. I don't think the possibility of bone asymmetry should ever be forgotten though. If you try to fix some perceived imbalance for years with no progress, it ought to be time to just let yourself move asymmetrically.

Not him, but watch the video. EVERYONE IS ASYMMETRICAL
look at your face. It is not perfectly symmetrical. What makes you think the rest of your body is? And why would his muscles be much tighter on the one side than the other.

It is perfectly natural to not be completely symmetrical. Watch the video.

OP, I angle my right foot a bit more than my right as well. Do what feels natural TO YOU, not what some guy says is the correct way to squat. Listen to your body, and learn about anatomy.

I got flat feet though, so if my toes aren't pointing out when I squat then my knees collapse into themselves and I've gotten an injury that way once.

Glad to see this posted. Its a direly underappreciated channel and EVERYONE on fit should watch these videos. Unlike other, more prominently featured coaches here on /fit/, he has actually trained notably personalities. NBA players, 2nd place in the Arnold

Also, he trained in Gold's gym in the 70s and 80s with the other bodybuilders during that era. It was a different time, no internet, one had to travel and live there and could train with all the big names back then. He has had exposure to sports, exercise, training, anatomy longer than many here have been alive.

Every god damn person is asymetrical. It could be tightness but its probably not. Leg length discrepancy is a common one. Klokov is a good example of that. he has a weird stance for deadlift and squats because of this. Yet, is a top level olympic lifter.

How would he address the knock knee look

Watch his videos, do your research. If you want to improve yourself seriously rather than take a silly soundbite and run with it, you gotta put in some work. Its your body, and some guy yapping about 1/2/3/4 plates or mobility when they no NOTHING about what a specific person brings to the table cannot help you, and neither can Tom without knowing how you are built, what kind of sports history and injuries you have, your anatomical characteristics. Sorry I cant give you a concise single-sentence advice and fix everything, we are more complicated than that
