there's almost no dorsal flexion in your clean. Try catching it with a far more vertical back angle. feet in closer, knees farther forward. I'd practice doing snatch grip squats (with a grip like you'd do for overheadpress) to help you figure out how to get that far more vertical back angle.

Loaded with two 25 kilo plates and two 10 kilo plates for a total of 70 kilos (154lbs)

Collars are 5 kilos (11lbs)

Smaller red plates are also 5 kilos (11lbs) and the smaller yellow plates are 3 kilos (6lbs)

For a total of 98 kilos or 216 lbs.

I was addressing two different posters. Or at least, I thought I was. Only the first part of the response was about learning the power clean. The second part was about a guy asking specifically for a routine for weightlifting.

Basically after you learn to clean with the bar, do the recommendation of your strength program, which is typically something like 5 sets of 3 reps (Starting Strength), at the same weight across. So 5x3 with the bar. Next session, add weight for the 5x3 and incorporate some warmups as needed. so when you get to 5x3x95 you might do 3xbar, 3x65, 3x85 as warmups.

After nationals here (norway) we had a huge party where everyone got drunk and had a great time. I'm sure someone hooked up.

I'm still pretty new and didn't know a lot of people. I felt like everyone already knew eachother so it was hard to make friends. Next time I'll try and hook up with someone for sure. I mean it's perfect:

You need to be faster under the bar. One thing is that you are not upright and not dorsiflexing on catch; you need pull yourself horizontally into the bar and catch (this results in an upright back and a proper clean position). Normally this is why beginners are taught to pull their legs up and explosively slam on the platform to emphasize forward pulling. In general in all parts of the pull the bar can be closer to your body. Receiving with your legs too far apart decreases your efficacy in the squat portion so catch in the natural squat position as well as you can.

Whilst working on getting back my mobility and technical skills, am I right to follow a standard beginner program(something like what's recommended on the op) but substitute slightly easier movements into it? Chest is barely used in Olympic lifting, that's why you'll see a lot of athletes not having huge chests. Plus, not having a huge chest is a way of shaving off a few kg to fit into a weigh in before a competition.

Olympic lifting is highly technical, you can start technique work with an empty bar at any time. Requisite strength isn't necessary to learn technique. Ideally, try and get a coach to help you learn proper technique, and start eating a lot more.

No training today, but yesterday we did a max out (not sure why) for muscle squat snatch with no hookgrip and no feet. Ended up hitting 78kg and that's 2kg over my max snatch. Hopefully when we do max out in the next month or so I'll finally snatch 90
