Everyone knows that smoking is bad for your health in general.
But when it comes to gains, how does it affects them?

Less oxygen to muscles means lower performance which means less gains.

Of course the amount you smoke is a huge factor. 1-2 a day won't have a giant impact, but 5 or more probably will.

It's bad for your gains. Even small doses of nicotine increase your heart rate by 10 - 20 points for several hours after intake, so basically all day long for a regular smoker. The smoke impacts your lung function negatively, even if you just started smoking. Not to mention what happens long term. Which leads to a worse oxygen supply, which in turn means less energy for your muscles. At least switch to vaping if you can't stop. Preferably you shouldn't take nicotine either though.
