Anyone here have any experience with diastasis recti? I think I got it from sitting around too much. What do? Do I just do hardcore oblique and abs routine + core in general? Feel disgusting...

Stomach vacuums.

I wouldn't say
>hardcore
Your muscles are weakened so if you test yourself you may just fail the test. In this case failing the test may mean a hernia, for instance. Take it slow. Be patient.
I call it the abgina

does that really help? seems like it's just a posing routine thing to me?

yeah, good point. probably better to go hardcore in terms of consistency, not explosivity

Once you've stretched out that tissue between your abs, there's nothing you can do about it. It's like loose skin after a fatty loses 100lbs, it just stays there

It tightens your transversus abdominis or TVA. Think of it as the internal girdle beneath your abs that contracts inward. Are your abs distending outward due to heavy crunching movements and a weak TVA? Probably and it can be complicated by heavily straining your core when you have a weak TVA.
By strengthening your TVA it'll correct your
diastasis recti by pulling everything inward. It's not going to perfectly correct everything and it won't be completely closed up like surgery would but it's a lot better than trying to complicate the matter with exercises that can potentially distend your abdominal wall like heavy weighted spine and hip flexion movements. Take it easy on those other things until you do the stomach vacuums or suffer a potential hernia.
Is that a cause for a bloated gut? Because my stomach makes me look like on of those starving African kids and it's always been this way even though I'm quite skinny. Is there a way to know if I have this shit?

really? oh god damnit. well but surely it can be heavily improved then. i mean if that gives me a reason to get back in shape and train consistently, i'm okay with that.

noted. thank you. looking up tva exercises as we speak. i'm terrified of getting a hernia, which was why i stopped heavy lifting as soon as i noticed the diastasis. been slacking heavily since then (desk job overtime) which probably did damage too.

i don't think so actually, the bloated gut look is more a result of hip/back posture-related issues. but also a result of sitting all day every day. really a shit habit of the modern wageslave.
final deathrattle bump

actually pretty cool thread, informative
