What was /fit/ like before the Reddit invasion?

How before?
Shortly before? It was empty as all fuck. Threads stayed up for 5 days on average
One year before? Eh. Kinda same as it was now, except with less /pol/. I like to think that most people on /fit/ just switched to /pol/ for a few months and back. But of course we still have a new wave of people who have only been working out for 3 months trying to give advice. Same as every year
Golden era of both misc and fit was 2011. I was only a casual lurker back then, but boy was it great.

Tomato and Seattle were absolute cancer. Supermang you could at least fuck with and laugh at his roid rage reactions, but Tomato and Seattle weren't even /fit/ related in the slightest, or fun to interact with in any way. They lurked the board and only commented on off topic shit, and ONLY when it meant being able to derail entire threads with their inane /pol/ tier shitposting. I don't think I ever once saw them posting a thread or comment that was even marginally related to fitness. It was just a constant stream of r/redpill and /pol/ ramblings, usually in response to very casual, ironic, or obviously bait comments that other people made.

I've been shitposting here on and off since 2011. The gay shit comes in waves, but I feel like the board didn't really change that much. The biggest difference i'd say is that /fit/ became more open to non-powerlifting forms of training. Back then I was just starting to learn about training, and people would just repeatedly yell "OATZ AND SQUATZ" and "DO GOMAD".

Quality was best in 2012 or 2013 just before there was a consistentish archive running. My fond memories of online fitness shit also predates /fit/ even existing, people shoutinf Ronnie Coleman shit was comfy af.

/fit/ before Zyzz, and even in the earliest days of the "aesthetics" movement, was actually a very nice place. We had fun memes, people were supportive, and the board had a very cozy feeling, like it was our own little unique corner of 4chan. It was a golden era.

Then it became very toxic.
