Hey guys, is insanity workout a meme or is it any good?

It's a meme. If you want cardio do HIIT.

But insanity is HIIT

It's not a meme if you want to have god tier cardio and endurance. The workout is hard as fuck and if you're not already in great shape you'll tap out before the warmup is over.
That said it's insanely taxing to keep up, 1 hour of straight hardcore HIIT for 6 days a week is no joke. The first two weeks you'll feel like absolute shit, but after you break through it it can be really rewarding.
Obviously you're not going to put on mass doing this. It's strictly a conditioning program. You will sweat like a motherfucker and you will drop quite a bit of fat no doubt.
I'd say it's worth doing if only for the challenge because you really need iron will to do the entire two months of it. You will for sure be in the best cardiovascular shape of your life if you complete it.
Meme.

This.
If you're looking for a starter level home work out on a time crunch, though, do P90X3.

p90x sucks. at least with insanty/asylum/t20 you get some cardio base
it's very brutal even if you think you have cardio. you'll probably feel sick after the first test if you actually push yourself to do as much as you can.
that said, i wouldn't recommend it to overweight people since there is quite some jumping

I'd recommend insanity max 30 for people in poor shape. Workout length cut down in half and you also have a modifier track if you're a complete beginner.

I did it for two weeks but stopped because my ankles and lower back were in constant pain. Is that regular soreness or something else (I was about 40 pounds heavier than I am now)? I'm thinking about starting again because I might want to do 2 or 3 rounds of pure cardio just to cut up and get in crazy shape.

Its a meme

yeah probably all that extra weight was hurting your back and ankles
should be fine now
