What are some /fit/ alternatives to brown rice and whole wheat pasta? Are any of them as cheap as normal rice or pasta?
>>
>>41360713
I eat diced cabbage with everything. No flavor, log calories and keeps my shits in high volume.
>>
>>41360713

Whole wheat bread from your local bakery.
>>
>>41360713

Holy shit, I never thought this I'd find a use for this memebase tier reaction image but it looks like today's the day. At first I thought "how the fuck am I going to use that in a dish where I'd normally have rice or pasta?" but then I realised, I can make /fit/ sandwiches. Anon, you're a fucking genius.

Now lets just hope that I don't have to break my bank for this.

I sometimes get bored of them and when it comes to diet, diversity is always a good thing.

Potatoes
Sweet potatoes
Beans (red, white, black, black eyed)
Lentils
Chickpeas
Green peas
Bulgur
Quinoa

Step it up OP
>>
quinoa is pretty cheap if you buy it in bulk. if you're brace enough you can try savory oats. there's also couscous
>>
>>41360861
>Potatoes
>Sweet potatoes
Holy shit why did I never consider these? I'll have to check my notes, I must've had a reason to rule them out.

>Beans (red, white, black, black eyed)
>Lentils
>Chickpeas
I honestly thought these were mostly sources of protein.

>Green peas
>Bulgur
>Quinoa
Aren't these all expensive as fuck?
>>
>>41360713
??

whole wheat things are usually cheaper in stores due to demand
>>
>>41360916
Bullshit. I've never seen that in any shop that I've ever been in which sells both.
>>
>>41360931
here in norweg thats usually how it is
>>
White rice. Brown rice is a fucking meme
>>
>>41360883
Quinoa is actually relatively cheap, for two meals it costs me $2.50.
>>
>>41361274
>$2.50 for 2 meals
>£2 in my currency
>i.e. what I've just paid for 1kg of pasta, 8 fucking meals worth
>cheap
>>
buckwheat. 13 grams of protein per 100 grams and they're also way more delicious than rice (for me)
>>
>>41362023
$2.5 IS cheap for two meals. Definitely not "expensive as fuck" as >>41360883 said.
>125 g pasta (450 kcal) per meal
You are either a 5'3 female or eat like 8 meals a day
As for >>41360883, legumes are 50% carbs and 25% protein by weight. So they aren't exactly a "protein" source, but you don't need meat with them to meet your proton goals, unlike with rice
Green peas, bulgur and quinoa are all dirt cheap, especially bulgur.
>>
>>41360713
Pearled barley is god tier
Also rye bread is good alternative to wheat
>>
Where do you guys buy this shit? I don't recall ever seeing it in a supermarket.
>>
>>41362274
>tfw your TDEE is below 2k
Anon's gonna make it.
>>
>>41360713
Potatoes (white or sweet) are literally 100% superior in literally every way

Just eat sweet potatoes and fuck your notes jesus
>>
>>41363307
OP here. I checked my notes. No word of a lie, the only occurrence of the word potato in them is "Why aren't you buying potatoes?". Long story short, I'm a fucking retard.
>>
>>41360754

>just discovered bread
>>
>>41363814
It's the greatest thing since sliced bread.
>>
>>41360713

Look up how to make cauli-rice. its big in paleo. Cheap and counts as a veggie
>>
>>41360883

Sweet potatoes are very good. For a lot of people they only use brown rice and sweet potatoes for their carbs.
>>
Fucking hell, I never knew that /fit/ loved potatoes so much.
