Pic related is me currently. I was really skinny a few years ago, did bodybuilding (was bigger than now), now much more functional strength and endurance based for the army. Cardio doesnt kill gains.

mostly strength routines with a certain variety of compounds, so apart from the big four I was doing a lot of heavy dips/pullups/rows + some minor accessory
however, if you want to look better, split would be a better option

the timeframe part is a bit tricky, because it's kind of long (like 6-7 years), with whole years off and some short periods on. the longest I've been lifting consistently was one year, then there were a couple of shorter bursts and now I've been properly lifting for less than 6 months. all things considered, I think it'd around a year, because I was of similar size after my first time of lifting with a shitty diet.
