What do you guys do for a living?
Does your job fuck up your gains?

I've been offered a new job at a hospital. I'll be either working 7 am-7 pm or 7 am - 3 pm.

If I pick the first option I'll be getting more money, but I'm afraid I'll be too tired to even work out afterwards.
>>
>>41325922
why do we always use this image for career threads? like how dnp threads always use the exact same picture of dnp capsules. whatev

I am going to get my GED this month. Living with parents. Dropped out of high school this past year. Going into the trades.

> If I pick the first option I'll be getting more money, but I'm afraid I'll be too tired to even work out afterwards.
This is what will happen.

Don't work at a hospital, all they bring are misery.

I'm gonna work for a company that does micro-processors, it's a fucking huge site and it has a gym.
>>
>>41325922
I work the night shift in IT. I often stay up 24+ hours straight if I have something I need to do during the day and often get shit for sleep. However, when I lift (9am), the gym is empty. Also, since my work is empty at night, I can usually bust out some body weight or kettle bell sets without feeling retarded. So it's a bit of a trade off.
>>
Im considering doing the same OP, currently in nursing school and want to get a PRN job as a PCT. my friend does it for 12 hour shifts and says the time goes by quickly and isn't too bad, but she does nights so your experience may vary

I've been told to join the force by people on here, but I can't. It doesn't interest me and I also can't leave because I have to help my mom with the bills.

I'm starting medical school in August, I hear it's bad for gains unless you get into a tight disciplined routine.

So I'm gonna start hopping out of bed at 5:30 and heading to the campus gym, working out and showering there, and hitting the books by 7 or 7:30. I've gotta do something for me and I feel like my retention is better post-workout so it's fine but the transition might suck for a few weeks.

Mid-level government bureaucrat for social programs in Canada like EI and pension and veteran's benefits. I listen to people explain their entitlement and issue payments (or not) based on a branching decision tree.
It's not bad work, though it can get a bit dull. I meet lots of people, most of them decent and nice. The job is 8:30-4:30, it's secure, and it pays a livable salary ($52k/yr).
It's also fine for gains because my time is tightly scheduled, so I eat and workout at the same times every day.
>>
>>41326968
Well I was trying to say that I can't leave my mom as of now. My family is going through money problems and since my mom is getting older and can't really speak English, I have to help her out at a lot of things.

Fellow med student here. Even you're disciplined there won't be enough for keeping track at the gym, most likely. Make a way for lifting without going to the gym, ie chin ups and push ups on study breaks, so your gains won't suffer on tighter weeks.

A mix of bullshit here

It's a heavy lifting job, so it helps keep my arms and core strong. But it's exhausting and I have to work early early mornings.
Can't workout until late afternoon, so it's hard to push myself that far. I do it though because I hate living.

Positives:
It's GOAT for gains. Air Force gyms are nice and very well stocked, lifting culture is huge in the aviation community so gym bros are everywhere, and you're required to work out.

Negatives:
The downside is that your schedule can get really fucky when the ops tempo picks up, or you have long sorties.
Drinking culture is pretty big too, lots of barbecues, parties, nights out, etc., so it's difficult to get really cut.

I'm studying for usmle as a non-US IMG. Tbqh, there will be some time for lifting, but usually is not scheduled (for instance, today I had 3 free hours non-scheduled), so it might be hard to get to be consistent, especially on exams block. Chin-ups and push-ups help a lot in keeping the weights on busy weeks.

lpn nurse. Make 32K a year working 30 hours a week. It's a pretty sweet gig.

I get up way early but I get off work at noon so I work out then. All the running around and constant walking can be rough after a leg day but it doesn't really interfere with workouts. What really fucks me up is moving fatass patients around. It can be murder on your back. I've strained my ankle, lower back, elbows scapulae(when a fatass starts pulling on your arms, it can really fuck your upper back), etc. countless times.

It fucks up my gains in that if I wasn't working 60+ hours per week, and traveling all over the world, I would lift and play sports every day.

Welder and part-time grocery clerk.

I work 50 hour weeks welding at a shop, pretty comfy and not that physically demanding unless I need to lift something long, but even then we've got other people who work with me. Only 3 of us work there, so we're bros and it's pretty cool.

I work in a grocery store part time because it's an extra $12,000 per year for working on some evenings and weekends.

I'm also in the local militia (Canadian AMA) and that pays alright like an extra thousand or so per year.

All in all, having time for lifting is no problem either. I workout 3 days a week full body for the last 3 years and still have made decent gains.

The only thing is that after a shift at the grocery store my knees get tired, and my shop doesn't have ventilation so I'm constantly breathing smoke and steel and shit, black boogers suck kek

Doesn't fuck with my gains cause I hide all the best shit for myself the minute it comes out the back. Lots of bending and lifting at work. Also working on a meat/seafood team is by far the best experience in retail. Get to deal with morons gleefully as the "Customer is always right!" and it's not my fault they're about to fuck their steak up. Almost exclusively male environment. Knife skill gains come naturally. Also the rest of the store is pleb compared to the meat guys, even the managers don't fuck with us except for closing check out.

Feels good man.

I accepted a business consulting position in KC, MO. Not sure what to expect, graduating with a degree in Business Analytics and Info Systems and I don't know what to do with it

Police Officer.
Shift work isn't that bad for your gains. We're encouraged to work out on shift a few times a week. I'll admit after a long day it's tiring but I usually just take some preworkout and then head right to the gym. If I'm working late shift I usually just go beforehand.

this sounds like a great gig but why the fuck would you commute from chicago to san francisco?

this is dumbshit unless its work required.

I work 0830-1700 M-F with an hour of driving on each end of that and usually 5 hours of expected overtime throughout the week. I work as a CNA on weekends 0600-1430 and some times 0630-1900. I work out for joining the Marines in the AM or PM. If you are too tired, you are just a sad cunt. As Marcus Aurelius said, you need to have a reason to get up and go on. Find your own reason.

Depends on the area

Big firm = no life
Small firm = some life, but only with lawyers

It's good. I'm still pretty new but there's a lot of room for branching out into other units. The work can be really rewarding but you also see some messed up stuff.

Shit, mang. Those are the same shifts for my CNA job. Are you me?

different anon than the previous ones, but i too am starting podiatry school in the fall. Ive heard its comparable to MD/DO. I got into a few DO schools but decided on pods because i want to do surgery in the long run. I considered IMG as well, but didnt for this reason. Still, I've heard if you crush steps and have a few strings you could pull you'll be fine. Lots of student docs on /fit/

A bit. I have to get up at 4:30am, so I am usually tired when I go lift at noon.

Work as a Correctional officer

I work in a sawmill and pallet repair. Constantly lifting and stacking 90-120 lbs (depends how moist wood material), power drilling tools, hacksaws, hammering all the time.

there are some pretty big guys working there, but most people are skinny as fuck with only huge forearms. this one guy is like hungry skeleton -mode but huge fucking popeye forearms.

For the first month I got serious Doms from full day at work, but got used to it fast. Now I can go to gym no problem.

Still after a month sometimes my forearms are so sore that some lifts do suffer, no energy for pullups or deadlift because non-existant grip

Cuck semi related IT office worker here.

Kills my soul everysingle day I go there. Making shit money 15K (UK) and literally no means of progression.

Started applying for Software Testing jobs since I've got my ISTQB Certificate, but no fucking luck for past 2 months.

What would you recommend for a quite young individual as myself in terms of career path? All I care to be honest, that It would be better paying, I'm materialistic, and money and lifting is all that matters to me.
>>
>>41325922
Mortician. Shitty work times fuck with my sleep gains but I get to lift regularly, but mostly it's just old people that don't weigh above 80kg

find some fetish niche and become a high end prostitute.

ER nurse 7p-7:30a
There's no time to do anything on the days I work, but I often end up with 4-7 days off in a row after working a stretch and then I can do whatever the fuck I want. I just lift or run every day I'm not working. Best job I've ever had as in most fun and highest paying by a long shot.
>>
Finishing up college (U. Houston, go Coogs) and working two bartending jobs in craft beer. My schedule is kinda tight, I left after work though so I can get in long sessions 4 times a week. No gains problems here bros
