Honestly, i dont think the supplements help as much as keying in on your diet. I'll drink tea and some would call this a supplement because it contains caffeine

And yes, reduce calories and keep protein up, more complex carbs over simple carbs. Thats the rule of thumb. Get a book on nutrition and not those south beach diet books im talking real human nutrition. You'll probably cut back 250-500 calories a day. Keep it up until you hit your target weight and then maintain.
Its not really magic just a lot of will power and dedication to stick to something and see it through. Hardest part will probably be the 1st week. Afterthat you adjust quickly
