It depends. I hit a 2plate bench in about a year, and a 3plate bench in 3 years when I was a teenager. However, I was doing a 3 day brosplit and didn't do much strength training.

I had that chest gap despite lifting for years, went on a huge cut, then started doing calisthenics. Today it felt like my pecs were rubber rubbing on rubber, don't know how else to describe it, and after checking in the mirror the gap is almost completely gone. Ya retards just don't know how to engage yourself.
