What makes a man tough or hard?

Sure some of us are athletically big but how well could you do if some guy slabs your girls ass in the club?

Does tattoos or clothes maketh the man? Or maybe training in boxing?

I want to know, I'm getting gains but i STILL feel like a boy in a mans body and if we're honest bros, i just feel out of my depth all the fucking time, I don't tell anyone i just suck it up, but work, studying, my girlfriend

TLDR: How do I get tough?

Toughness is internal, not external.
If you do "tough guy" shit without changing your mindset you are just a poser.
Learn to stand up for yourself and to say no. That's the first step.

martial arts gives you confidence, but you need to be physically strong to be able to exercise your martial arts in a real world situation. hard to say anon, toughness is primarily how much pain or battering you can endure, so if you cant take a punch to the face, keep exercising and work those neck muscles. the appearance doesn't make the man but it does represent you, so if you want to LOOK tough then thats the way to go.

I feel like "toughness" comes from a place of complete confidence. Many a times you'll see people throwing off mean glares in the street whilst walking and puffing their chest to demonstrate publicly that they are THE man (lord knows I used to do that for an embarrassingly long time).

That confidence gives birth to a relaxation and peace of mind that cannot be bought or bargained for, it's something that is earned. Take the following video as an example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-s53vL19aE
Might be a poor way to illustrate my example, but let me get to it. This is a man who can walk into 99% of the rooms on the planet and kill most men with his bare hands. Yet in this video, which perfectly encapsulates the entirety of the personality he crafted, he's calm. Perfectly calm, not once does he walk in a pseudo-confident way, he's complete and utter relaxation. That relaxation, I believe, comes from a place of hard work and dedication to one self.

>i just feel out of my depth all the fucking time
And you'll feel that way until you don't have to anymore. What you posted is good, you have to read a lot if you don't want to feel lost in terms of discussions. But if you're going on about physicality alone, lifting isn't enough. I practise MMA and without I used to feel just like that, out of my element and that any dude bigger than me could slap my head off. Not fearing, mind you, more aware that it's a real possibility and that would make me take a step back several times.

So yeah, take up some full contact combat sports if you want another element of pure confidence in your life.

All and all, a combat sport coupled with lifting and reading will eventually lead you to that zen place I talked about above, where one exudes confidence and toughness without the necessity of faking it. You'll notice even your speech patterns change once you get past a certain point.

have problems

you would consider people who live in poor and dangerous areas "tough", albeit they may have other issues. You would consider metropolitan well off white people less "tough". Toughness is built through struggle, when you endure very hard things, things that are less hard, become easier. If you had to deal with aggressive people that carried weapons on the regular during your childhood, all of a sudden a guy talking shit to you at the club isn't so significant

It's not necessarily something you "want", you shouldn't want to go through struggle in your life, and it doesn't mean you are a pussy because you're white or well off. Just be responsible, provide for those you care about, and be rational and you will mature on your own. You can't fake it, fight or flight is very hardwired into us, and the second you're in real pressure, you're going to crack

So you basically ask for help and then fuck off?
What a cunt you are.

good post
some one who gets it
mr. nelson seems like a good person who worked really hard and thats something to appreciate
he is super relaxed and I think as you said it comes mainly from hard work and therefore he can trust in himself because he know what he had to do, to become who he is.

Glad it was worth something, lads.

Just keep in mind the first couple of weeks in the gym (for combat sports, ofc) will be really uncomfortable and it's something you have to grind through until you get used to it. Get past the 3 months stage and you'll be hooked to it.

Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

The thing that made me break past a lot of my own mental barriers were military water confidence drills.

I grew up being afraid of the deep end in the pool, not a very good swimmer. Regularly having to face my fear of deep water and not knowing when my next breath of air was going to come did wonders for my mentality. Many people told me there was no way I would survive my chosen military pipeline given the amount of aquatic festivities involved, but I didn't give in to my own fear and feelings of inadequacy and managed to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

1. Don't be a manlet
2. Don't dress like a retard (Shitty or too shiny)
3. Don't look ugly
4. Be social and easy to approach
No need to act tough. And if you feel the need, i would consider moving out of the nigger ghetto
