i would say leg extension with light weight as a warm up to squat, where u go heavy.
if thats not an option, then do something light to warm up before doing squat, then leg extension

I started trying to get a minor pump before any compound exercises, feels better and I get better pumps. So I usually do 3ish sets of really like leg extensions before squats.

This. Squats don't have a lot of Vastus Medialis activation so if you want to get a good pump or warm up before squatting, do some leg extensions to get a good pump. LE feel super uncomfortable on my knee however since the exercise produces tendon shear. Always better to go light on them. Machines are great for those who know how to utilize them.
just do more squats; you don't have to do any meme exercises for your lower body other than uncomfortable , scary, heavy as fuark squats.
OP here, sorry a bit offtopic. I am new at squats and sometimes i feel weird discomfort where the leg connects to the body. Is this normal or not good? I don't know what kind of pain this is, ligament or what?
Sometimes when I do the squats, I don't feel this pain, other times I feel this annoying pain in the region where the leg connects to body.
I used to get this pain in the hip area even when I a was just walking when I first began doing legs.
